JonBenet Ramsey’s Dad, John, Speaks Out in the Chilling First ‘The Killing of JonBenet: The Truth Uncovered’ Trailer

Taking another look. With JonBenét Ramsey‘s murder still a mystery nearly 20 years later, A&E has released the first trailer for its upcoming documentary The Killing of JonBenét: The Truth Uncovered.

The two-hour special, premiering Monday, September 5, includes the first airing of JonBenét’s older brother, Burke Ramsey‘s, 1998 interview with the district attorney’s office. It also features her father, John Ramsey‘s, first sit-down to mark the milestone, along with expert examination of new DNA evidence.

“We absolutely felt like we were the victim of a lynch mob led by the media,” a somber John, 72, tells the camera in the trailer. “There’s no question that the Boulder police department believed we were the killers.”

JonBenét’s case continues to garner interest, as the 6-year-old pageant queen’s December 1996 murder in the family’s Boulder, Colorado, home remains unsolved despite multiple grand jury hearings. Burke was exonerated by DNA evidence in 1999, and JonBenét’s parents, John and late ex-wife Patsy, were removed from the suspect list in 2008.

This is hardly the only recent TV program to take a closer look at the grisly crime. CBS is launching a six-hour docuseries on September 18 to reexamine it, and Lifetime is planning a TV movie centered on the ongoing mystery. Burke sat down with Phil McGraw for a three-part Dr. Phil special beginning Monday, September 12, marking the 29-year-old’s first-ever media interview.
