Let the awards roll in! The 22nd Annual Critics' Choice Awards announced the 2016 nominees on December 1, kicking off the season that honors the year’s best films and performances. Damien Chazelle's musical La La Land, starring Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, and Barry Jenkins' indie film Moonlight were among the top nominees, claiming 12 and 10 nods, respectively, including best picture.

As the first nominations to be announced, the Critics' Choice Award nominees offer a clue as to which films, directors, actors and actresses will be most likely to rake in the accolades for the rest of the season, culminating with the Oscars in February. Those nominations will be announced on January 24, 2017, with the ceremony taking place on February 26, 2017.

The Critics' Choice Awards are voted on by the 352 members of the Broadcast Television Journalists Association and the Broadcast Film Critics Association combined. The ceremony, in which both television and film nominees will be awarded, is scheduled to be televised on A&E on Sunday, December 11, 8 p.m. ET.

T.J. Miller, one of the stars of HBO’s Silicon Valley, will host the show.
