Leighton Meester Releases Impressive Acoustic “Heartstrings” Song, Announces Upcoming LP: Listen Now!

She’s not just Blair Waldorf, anymore! Leighton Meester is making serious moves in her singing career, releasing an impressive new song and announcing an upcoming LP. 

The actress, 28, debuted “Heartstrings,” the title track off of her upcoming debut studio LP of the same name on Tuesday, Sept. 9. The artful acoustic song has the Gossip Girl alum crooning about a relationship turned sour and the efforts taken to move on after a breakup.

“Had to save my own self from all your evil games / And now it ain’t the same, oh / You will have no such luck to try to come inside / It is to be denied,” Meester sings. “Tie my heartstrings / I tie my heartstrings off /  Tie my heartstrings / I tie my heartstrings off.”

Meester, who married The O.C. actor Adam Brody in February 2014, wrote the nine songs on Heartstrings and teamed up with producer Jeff Trott for the project.

“‘Heartstrings’ speaks to [the] vibe and encompasses a lot of the themes of the rest of the album,” she told Billboard with the song’s release. “It’s been a long time coming and I’m very excited to finally release it.”

Meester has made previous forays into the world of music when she lent her vocals to Cobra Starship’s 2009 hit “Good Girls Go Bad,” worked with Robin Thicke for her 2009 song “Somebody to Love,” and showed off her singing chops in the 2010 movie Country Strong with Gwyneth Paltrow, Tim McGraw, and Garrett Hedlund
