Mariah Carey Calls American Idol “The Worst Experience of My Life”

Mariah Carey
Mariah Carey said in an Australian radio interview that she would never go back to American Idol, calling it the worst experience of her life.

No love for Idol! Superstar Mariah Carey joined the American Idol judging panel for one brief season in 2013, but she'll never, ever go back.

When asked by Australian radio hosts Kyle and Jackie O whether she'd return for the final season of the Fox reality hit, she was very quick to respond.

"Hell no! Absolutely not! That was the worst experience of my life," she told the hosts during an interview discussing her new Las Vegas show.

Carey's main issue was the seemingly producer-driven feud between her and fellow season 12 judge Nicki Minaj. "I don't think they had any intentions for us to have a good experience doing that show. Pitting two females against each other wasn't cool," the pop superstar revealed. "It should've been about the contestants instead of about some nonexistent feud that turned into even more ridiculousness."

Another complaint? "It's so boring and so fake," the mom of twins Monroe and Moroccan said. "You have to make up things to say about people. Half the time the performances are good. You'd just be like, 'It was good!'"

This isn't the diva's first time criticizing the show. In a 2013 interview, she she said she "hated" it. "It was like going to work every day in hell with Satan," she quipped at the time.

Carey's final verdict: "I would never want to be involved with it again," she concluded in the Aussie interview. "But everyone else can like it!"

American Idol returns for its 15th and final season in January 2016.
