Mark McGrath’s “Every Morning” Mullet Is Very Joe Dirt: Watch Him Realize the Craziness! (Exclusive)

Aww, man — David Spade, you have some explaining to do! Mark McGrath dropped by Us Weekly’s New York City headquarters recently to talk everything ’90s, Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!, and more. But we couldn’t let him leave without a little “Every Morning” throwback, too. The Sugar Ray singer was hilariously shocked when he finally realized just how much he looks like the fictional character Joe Dirt in the 1999 music video.

“That is amazing! I was Joe Dirt before Joe Dirt,” McGrath, 47, said. “I think somebody owes me some money. Dave, you will be hearing from me or my lawyers.”

McGrath was taken aback (that face!) by the comparison photos. In “Every Morning” and in the 2001 original flick, both men wore a hilarious blonde wig and donned a white T-shirt with a red collar.

“That is the coolest thing I’ve ever seen! It’s the same mullet!” the former Extra co-host exclaimed. “You might have uncovered the holy grail — of plagiarism.”

McGrath appears in Spade’s upcoming Joe Dirt sequel, Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, as Kid Rock’s brother Jimmy. The stars have been friends for years, so the “Fly” singer was game to join the comedy when Spade asked.

“That movie is just timeless and classic. David Spade, what can you say about him? The wig with the mullet — awesome,” he told Us. “I didn’t get to wear the mullet though. I’m a little bit bummed!”

Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser premieres on Crackle on Thursday, July 16.
