Michael Strahan wanted to feel close to to his favorite actors and actresses as he presented the 2015 Critics' Choice Awards on Thusday, Jan. 15 — so he stepped into their shoes, literally!

Strahan started the night by stripping down to his boxers to show off his exotic dancing skills, honed on the set of his forthcoming movie Magic Mike XXL.

"Who needs lines when you have legs like these," the athlete joked, referring to the lack of dialogue his character has in the movie.

But although Strahan's muscular legs nearly stole the show, it was what he wore, rather than what he didn't wear, that made the biggest impact in his role as award ceremony host.

As the evening went on, the former NFL star surprised the audience when he walked out onto the stage dressed as Angelina Jolie in Maleficent. "I'm putting the male into Malefecent," he joked, before asking Jolie what she thought of his costume. "I love it, I love it," she shouted enthusiastically from her seat in the crowd.

Other characters to get the Strahan treatment included Sir Ian McKellen's Gandalf and Zero Moustafa's lobby boy character (with the athlete joking he was the size of Moustafa when he was in fourth grade).

After wowing the audience with his elaborate costumes, the Live With Kelly and Michael co-host then joined his famous celebrity pals including Reese Witherspoon at their seats to pose for selfies taken by the 360i tablets provided on each of the tables at the Hollywood Palladium venue in Los Angeles.
