Change of plans! When the ball drops in Times Square on New Year's Eve, Miley Cyrus will be there to ring in 2014.
The singer, 21, tweeted Wednesday, Dec. 11, "Smilers! There's been a change in my NYE plans. [Ryan Seacrest] asked me to perform in Times Square for #RockinEve!!"
Seacrest confirmed the news of Cyrus' addition during a Wednesday night appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live. "We just added Miley Cyrus to be in Times Square right before the ball drops," the X Factor host told Kimmel. "We try to look for the artist that's created a lot of buzz and had a really big year."
Us Weekly can confirm that Cyrus will perform live in Times Square at 11:45 p.m. EST, right before the ball drops. The "Wrecking Ball" singer was originally scheduled to appear at the Fontainebleau in Miami Beach, Fla., alongside Pharrell Williams on the final night of 2013. She added to her big announcement, "I'm bummed I won't be in Miami," as she thanked her "homies" at the luxe venue "4 their support."
New Year's Rockin' Eve programming will begin at 8 p.m. on Dec. 31 on ABC. Seacrest will then lead the annual countdown with View cohost Jenny McCarthy from Times Square close to midnight. Fergie will host the West Coast rendition of New Year's Rockin' Eve with performers like Ariana Grande and The Fray.
