Last but certainly not least! Usual awards season suspects Leonardo DiCaprio, Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon, Sofía Vergara and more hit the red carpet of the 2016 Oscars on Sunday, February 28, but beloved actress Jennifer Lawrence was missing in action outside of the Dolby Theatre before the show — and Twitter demanded to know her whereabouts.
Us Weekly can confirm that the four-time nominee and one-time winner, 25, showed up right before the show kicked off on Sunday, and quickly took photos on the carpet before running into the venue. “There was a complete crazy frenzy when Jennifer Lawrence rushed through late,” an observer says. “[She was] literally the last to come down after everyone else had been inside for 10 minutes or so. [Joy director] David O. Russell was on her arm.”
The Silver Linings Playbook director, 57, who’s worked alongside Lawrence on Joy and American Hustle, posed for several photos together with his muse. Lawrence was then pulled aside for several solo shots before scurrying inside. Adds the observer: “She was the most fussed-over celeb.” (The Joy actress was seen in the audience applauding Room‘s Brie Larson, who bested her in the Best Actress in a leading Role category to win the golden statue.)
Fans, however, had no idea what was happening with Lawrence — whose hilarious awards show antics the past few years have always livened things up — and took to Twitter to anxiously await the nominee.
