‘Real Housewives of Atlanta’ Recap: Matt Jordan Kicks In Kenya Moore’s Door, She Threatens to ‘Bury’ Him

All was quiet on the Atlanta front — for about five minutes, anyway. The Sunday, December 11, episode of The Real Housewives of Atlanta began with an update on the bomb threat at Phaedra Parks‘ office. It turned out that it wasn’t a bomb threat at all. The man who had arrived was actually a rapper named Drama and was one of Phaedra’s friends. He had been carrying some “bomb new music” to share with her, but he had gone to the wrong office and everyone had freaked out that he had said the word “bomb.” While some reports mentioned that Drama “wasn’t in his right frame of mind” when he’d shown up, he hardly seemed like a security threat.

Still, Phaedra took the incident as a teachable moment, recognizing that she needed to make sure she protected her family and staff. She also believed this was an example of racial profiling and that the response to him using the word “bomb” would have been different if he hadn’t been black.

Cynthia and Kenya Bond Over Boy Trouble

Meanwhile, Cynthia Bailey stopped by Kenya Moore‘s house (err … “manor”) to catch up. Mostly, they discussed their man troubles. Kenya recounted how her boyfriend Matt Jordan had run off to California after getting mad that she had posted a throwback photo of herself with Jay Z. She then decided to ask Matt to come back to Atlanta so they could “talk face to face, like adults.”

Cynthia was enduring similar issues with her estranged husband, Peter Thomas, who had recently gone on The Wendy Williams Show to air some of their dirty laundry. She looked sad as she admitted it was “starting to get a little ugly.” She met with her lawyer later, however, and he was optimistic that they could settle quickly and avoid court. “I’m happy,” Cynthia sighed, “but then I’m sad that it didn’t work out.”

Mama Joyce Stirs the Pot

“I know Phaedra’s out for my daughter, so I’m out for her,” Mama Joyce explained to the camera with a smile. She then went to visit a divorce lawyer to find out if Phaedra’s story about not being able to finalize her divorce because Apollo Nida was in jail was legitimate or not. The lawyer was careful with his words, but confirmed what Mama Joyce suspected: If Phaedra really wanted to get it done, she could.

When Mama Joyce met up with Phaedra at Kandi Burruss‘ restaurant tasting, she tried to approach her about it, but Kandi intervened. Instead of talking about her not-yet-completed divorce, Phaedra talked about the not-an-actual-bomb-threat bomb threat instead.

Sheree Whitfield then jumped in, asking Porsha Williams if Block Spencer (Porsha’s ex and the father of Kandi’s daughter, Riley) ever talked about Riley when they were together. (Block was a distant memory, as Porsha was busy plotting to have a baby with an ex-boyfriend named Todd.) Despite Sheree and Mama Joyce’s best efforts, however, the tasting went smoothly and everyone seemed to have a good time.

Matt Breaks Kenya’s Door

But while the wine tasting went smoothly, things between Kenya and Matt were worse than ever. “He came over here and he was drunk,” Kenya admitted to Cynthia over the phone. “He just came up to the door and kicked the window. He broke the window in the garage.” She went on to explain that Matt had returned from California and showed up at her house around 2 a.m. “He had been drinking and we hadn’t talked, so I wasn’t going to open the door.”

Cynthia said Matt was “a child” who needed “to go home to his mother.” She added that his behavior made her “nervous” and encouraged Kenya to take a good, hard look at whether he was the guy for her. They hung up and Kenya ended up crying to one of the show’s producers.

“I feel like he’s a good person, but he’s just so f–ked up. He really is, but he just has demons,” she cried. “I just wasn’t the nicest person to him in the beginning, and it’s like he holds onto all of that. I just think he resents me, and at this point I just don’t know what to do. I really love him but sometimes I just I don’t want to be fighting with him all the time.”

Kenya then got on the phone with Matt. “Before we end this completely, will you find it in your heart to forgive me one more time and take me back?” he asked before she got a word in. “If I promise to change?” She said she didn’t think they should talk about it over the phone and he agreed to come over.

Matt and Kenya Have the Fight to End All Fights

When he arrived 30 minutes later, however, he was angry all over again. “Why did you call me over here for this ambush?” he asked. “You told me they were leaving!” (He was referencing the film crew. He did not want this reunion to be filmed, apparently.)

“This is who I am,” Kenya replied as she hovered at the driver’s side of his car. “Get out of the car and talk to me.” Matt snapped back, “You’ve got to not treat me like I’m disposable. I keep telling you that.” He then argued that he was “done” with their relationship and was going to stay in California, but she had coaxed him back — only to ambush him with the crew. That’s when Kenya got really mad.

“I go to bat for you every time. I f–king have your back every time!” she shouted. “I don’t call the police. If I wanted to f–king bury you, I could, and you know it.” Matt said he would come back when he could talk to just her (i.e., no cameras).

“You have me looking like a f–king crazy person!” Kenya screamed. “Look at my motherf–king garage!”

Matt then implied Kenya was verbally abusive. “You always make it seem like I just act out all of a sudden out of nowhere and you’ve done nothing prior to it. I’m a young man. I get upset, I might break something, but you’re disrespectful almost constantly with your mouth and that causes things to escalate!” He added that she talked to him “like a farm animal” regularly. “You are manipulative and fundamentally deceptive!”

Kenya argued he was trying to make it seem like it was her fault that he’d gotten physical and violent. “‘Kenya, you’re responsible because I broke your garage.’ The next thing it will be, ‘Kenya, you’re responsible ’cause I whipped your ass!'”

Matt then peeled out, leaving Kenya and her broken garage door far behind.
