‘The Real Housewives of Orange County’ Season 11 Premiere Recap: Heather Dubrow Refuses to Forgive Vicki Gunvalson

They’re back! The Real Housewives of Orange County season 11 kicked off on Monday, June 20, with an episode called “When the Ship Hits the Fan.” The season premiere proved why the show has been successful enough to spawn so many spinoffs in other cities by cranking the action way, way up. The main plot was unsurprisingly still all about OG Housewife Vicki Gunvalson, who was ostracized for her perceived involvement in ex-boyfriend Brooks Ayers lying about his cancer diagnosis — but the other ladies have plenty going on too!

Ch-Ch-Changes

The show began with Tamra Judge working out and telling the camera that she was preparing for a fitness competition to prove it’s possible to be hot at any age!

The self-described “insta-grandma” then decided, for some reason, to tell the camera that ever since she got baptized last season, her sex with Eddie Judge life has been great.

“I scream, ‘Oh, God!’ at least 20 times!” she claimed.

While Tamra worked on fixing up her body, Meghan King Edmonds was working on fixing up her house. She explained that now that she and Jim Edmonds had finally moved out of the place he once shared with his ex, she finally felt like she had her own home, and then she revealed they had started the in-vitro fertilization process. Jim didn’t say much. Instead, he cautioned her, “Don’t count your eggs before they hatch.”

Also hesitant to talk about certain things was Heather Dubrow, who revealed to her husband, Terry Dubrow, that she was dragging her feet on calling Vicki to invite her to an upcoming party. Heather, of course, was waiting for Vicki to apologize for the lies that surrounded Brooks’ cancer-diagnosis scandal, but was reconsidering her harsh stance. She wanted to invite Vicki, but wasn’t sure how to proceed.

Moving forward was no issue for Vicki, though. In the next scene, she was telling the camera that she’d implemented some major life changes. She cut her hair and redid her kitchen. Oh, yeah, and Brooks moved out of her house.

Lovers and Friends

The OG Housewife told the camera she wanted to be in her friends’ lives again. She swore she hadn’t suspected Brooks was lying. In confessionals, the other housewives said they didn’t believe her at all.

Shannon Beador wasn’t sharing in Vicki’s feelings of loneliness. She was excited to tell the camera that since husband David Beador’s affair was discovered, their relationship had improved significantly, and she was “over” it.

Meghan’s mom came into town to accompany her to some of her IVF procedures since Jim was going to be at spring training for a while. She was lucky to have a hand to hold during her hysteroscopy because, as she told the camera, needles are her “biggest fear.” She started crying before the nurse even inserted her IV. None of the rest of the procedure went much better for her, either, but at the end, she was one step closer to successfully getting pregnant!

Newest Housewife Kelly Dodd has also been through IVF, just like Meghan’s mom and Heather had been, so Meghan is lucky to be around women who’ve successfully completed it and gotten pregnant!

That’s a Whole Yacht of Drama

Heather finally called Vicki about the party! After finding out she was coming, Tamra and Shannon expressed concern that since the party was on a yacht, they wouldn’t be able to get away if things went badly.

As backup, Vicki invited her friend and former costar Jeana Keough. “I definitely know Jeana will have my back,” she said.

At the party, Tamra and Kelly got along great after being introduced, although Shannon wasn’t exactly charmed by the stay-at-home mom’s loud jokes.

Vicki was last to arrive. Kelly was the only one who looked happy to see her, and that might be because she wasn’t around for the cancer fiasco and only knows Vicki because they share an esthetician …

At dinner, Meghan confronted her friend, asking how she’d enjoyed speaking to Vicki. Kelly responded that she “seems like a lovely lady.”

“‘Seems’ is the key word,” Meghan replied curtly. “Be careful.”

Love Boat

“We got a wakeup call right before the holidays,” said Heather, standing to make a toast. As she had warned Terry she was going to do, she revealed they’d had a health scare that had them thinking he’d need bypass surgery for his heart. “As it turns out, it was a false positive,” Heather concluded as she teared up.

Everyone at the party began to clap, and she went on to say that they’d come to realize who and what is important, which is why they invited everyone they love to the party.

Some people didn’t seem to get the message and stared at Vicki through the whole dinner. Finally, she asked Heather to talk downstairs. She told Heather that she wanted forgiveness for what happened last year, but still refused to admit she knew her boyfriend was faking his cancer.
