UPDATE: As some speculated, the photo that Sarah Jessica Parker posted to Instagram on Monday was a tease for the star's shoe collection with Bloomingdale's. She confirmed the news in a follow-up post on the SJP Collection Instagram, sharing a photo of herself standing atop the store's metal awning.
"Pinch me, I'm dreaming. After months and months of sworn secrecy, I can finally shout the news from the rooftop. Or even better, from the iconic @bloomingdales awning," she captioned the pic. "Welcome to New York, @sjpcollection. You're going to love it here. Finally, a permanent home in NYC. Ps. Forgive me for any previous misunderstandings. Twenty lashes with a wet noodle. Yours forever, Sj x"
ORIGINAL STORY: Not so fast. Sarah Jessica Parker sent Sex and the City fans into a tizzy on Monday, May 11, when she did a photo shoot in New York City.
The actress and shoe designer, 50, was spotted filming outside of Bloomingdale's in Midtown Manhattan, sparking speculation that she was beginning work on a third Sex and the City movie. As talk heated up about the star's appearance, she took to Instagram to share a shot of herself carrying the department store's trademark brown shopping bag and stepping out on the city streets in a chic white dress paired with metallic heels.
"Well. I guess the cat's out of the (little brown) bag," the Emmy winner teasingly captioned the photo. "As usual, we will keep you posted on every detail as we are able. I'm under strict gag order until then. Xx, Sj."
While frantic fans immediately took the actress' Instagram photo as confirmation that SATC 3 is in the works, a rep for Warner Bros. tells Us Weekly that this isn't the case. The rep confirmed to Us that the image is "not related" to a Sex and the City movie. An alternate theory suggests that the photo is for a shoe collaboration with Bloomingdale's, similar to the agreement the actress reached with Nordstrom for her SJP Collection line.
Parker, who famously played SATC's witty writer Carrie Bradshaw in the beloved series and two subsequent movies, has been quiet on social media in the hours since she posted her Bloomingdale's photo on Instagram. There has also been no word from Parker's SATC costars Kim Cattrall (Samantha Jones), Kristin Davis (Charlotte York), and Cynthia Nixon (Miranda Hobbes).
The actresses haven't appeared together as their famed New York City foursome since the 2010 release of Sex and the City 2. The sequel followed 2008's Sex and the City movie and the nearly six years that the women spent starring on HBO.
Parker has voiced her enthusiasm for a third installment in the past, telling Extra in 2013, "I've been saying… there is one story left to tell. If it is, in fact, the right time and the right place, maybe we should tell it. It would be wonderful."
