Scott Wolf may currently be playing the role of Donnie Ryan on TNT’s Perception, but to some fans, he’ll always be Bailey Salinger from Fox’s 1994-2000 teen drama Party of Five. Wolf, who played one of five siblings whose parents were tragically killed in a car accident, told HuffPost Live that he’s continually amazed by the show’s life span — and he remains close to his famous former TV family.
“It’s still going on today… it’s 20 years now since that show premiered, but it really had a significant impact on the people that watched it,” said Wolf. “That was something that I know I was, and all of us that made that show, were really proud of. We all wanna believe in the work we’re doing, and love the work we’re doing, but we don’t want to do it in a cave. The more people that it matters to, the better.”
Wolf, 46, who went on to star in shows like V and Everwood, said he never expected the show to have such a long shelf life.
“I would not have thought, all the way back then, that 20 years later people would talk about the show to me on the street like it just aired last night,” said Wolf.
Wolf’s Party of Five family included Neve Campbell as Julia, Matthew Fox as Charlie, and Lacey Chabert as Claudia — who all went on to be famous in their own right. Despite their busy lives and careers, though, The Night Shift guest star still keeps in touch with his faux-siblings.
“I see some more than others. Neve and I see each other probably more than any of the others,” said the father of three. “I’m still in touch with Matthew here and there, with Lacey — I can’t believe how little she was when we started the show. She was like 11 years old, and I feel like she’s like a sister. We were very much a second family to each other.”
Wolf said his children play with Campbell’s young son, a relationship he describes as “full circle.”
“Shows, or jobs, or one sort of defining thing can follow a person around through their lives, and I thank god that I loved that experience everyday, and I’m grateful for it,” he shared. “And I still like hearing about it.”
