One proud daddy! Seth Meyers got a little emotional as he told the story of son’s birth during his Late Night monologue on Tuesday, March 29.
The excited new dad talked his audience through a very unexpected Easter Sunday, which resulted in the birth of his first child, two weeks before the baby’s due date.
Taking time to thank all the key players in his son’s birth story (in particular, his doorman and his Uber driver, Tariq), Meyers described his wife’s journey to hospital in hilariously graphic detail, including the fact she was on all fours in the back of the taxi, yelling out an open window!
The proud pop then revealed the name he and wife, Alexi Ashe, have given their son.
“We named our son Ashe, which is my wife’s maiden name,” the show host explained. “I can’t think of a better way to honor what she did,” he added, referring to Alexi’s drug-free delivery. “The middle name is Olsen, which is my mother’s maiden name,” he continued, getting visibly choked up as he spoke. “To be able to name him after those two women…”
Don’t, however, make the mistake of suggesting that Meyers’ choice of name might have had something to do with Ashley Olsen!
“A couple of people have said ‘Do you think people will think you’ve named him after Ashley Olsen?'” Meyers said, getting ahead of the joke. “I said, ‘Nobody will think that, I’ve long been a Mary-Kate guy,’” he quipped.
