Paving their own paths. Sister Wives star Kody Brown may live a polygamous lifestyle, with three wives, but that doesn’t mean his kids will follow suit. Some of Brown’s children revealed that one partner is enough for them during a TLC Tell-All special which aired on Sunday, Nov. 22.
Kody, 46, was joined by his ex-wife Meri, wife Robyn, and two spiritual wives Christine and Janelle for the interview, which was conducted by Today show’s Tamron Hall. Kody and Meri’s only child, Mariah, was first to admit that polygamy might not be for her. (Kody divorced Meri, 44, this past February and legally married his youngest wife, Robyn, 37. Kody then legally adopted Robyn’s three children — David, 15, Aurora, 13, and Breanna, 10. They welcomed son Solomon in October 2011 and are expecting their second biological child together next year.)
“I think I’ve just grown a lot over the past few years and taken a step back and maybe thought more about what I want and how I want my life to turn out,” Mariah, 20, said.
Kody and Christine’s son Aspyn, 20, interjected: “I’m the same. I don’t want to do plural marriage. I kind of feel bad that none of us want to, but it was just not what we were meant to do I guess.”
The advertising salesman and Christine, 43, are also parents to daughters Gwendlyn, 14, Ysabel, 12, Truely, 5, Mykelti, 19, and son Paedon, 17. “I believe in the religion and I believe in the faith, but I see how my dad does it and he does it amazingly. He’s very strong and very powerful and I don’t think I could do that,” Paedon said on Sunday. Mykelti added: “I’m not going to live polygamy. I don’t think that’s for me. I don’t think I could ever live up to what my parents have been able to do.”
Kody and Janelle’s son Garrison, 17, couldn’t agree more. He firmly said that “one’s enough for me,” while his older sister Madison, 20, added: “I’m not one to live plural marriage.” (Kody and Janelle, 46, share sons Logan, 21, Hunter, 18, Gabriel, 14, and daughter Savanah, 10, too.)
Kody’s wives and his 17 children — they live in Las Vegas — have starred on TLC’s Sister Wives since September 2010.
