Looks like moviegoers still prefer a vampire love story over anything else.
For its third week in theaters, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn – Part 1 held strong at the box office in the No. 1 spot bringing in $16.9 million. The flick, starring Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, has pulled in a whopping $247.3 million since its November 18 release.
Keeping the No. 2 spot for the second week in a row, Jason Segel and Amy Adams' The Muppets brought in $11.2 million with total earnings of $60.1 million thus far.
For its opening weekend, Michael Fassbender's NC-17 flick Shame didn't top the charts but did manage to gross $361,101 from its mere 10-theater showings in Los Angeles, New York and San Francisco.
Chloe Moretz and Jude Law's Hugo, James McAvoy's Arthur Christmas and Elijah Wood's Happy Feet Two nabbed the number 3, 4 and 5 spots, pulling in $7.6 million, $7.3 million, and $6 million, respectively.
Rounding out the rest of the Top 10 Box Office list: Jack and Jill ($5.5 million), The Descendents ($5.25 million), Immortals ($4.3 million), Tower Heist ($4.1 million) and Puss in Boots ($3.0 million).
