The Voice Live Shows: Christina Grimmie Tackles Creative Rendition of Drake’s “Hold On We’re Going Home”

America will have its eyes on Christina Grimmie after Monday night’s Top 10 Live Shows on The Voice

The YouTube sensation-turned-Team Adam Levine contestant stripped down Drake‘s popular hit “Hold On We’re Going Home” for her one shot at moving forward. Accompanying the tune with just a piano to start before crescendoing to a climactic finish, the New Jersey native stole the show.

“You did the thing that we all hope we can accomplish as coaches and artists,” coach Blake Shelton told Grimmie, “and that’s that moment where you go from being a singer to being an artist. That sounded like your song and you created that. Unbelievable!”

Though voting lasts through 12 p.m. ET on Tuesday, April 29, Grimmie’s Drake cover has already hit the no. 5 spot on the iTunes charts—the highest of any contestant in season 6.

Before The Voice, Grimmie was the opening act for Selena Gomez‘s We Own the Night Tour in 2011 and also opened the Disney star’s recent Stars Dance Tour in 2013.
