The results are in and The Voice season 8 finalists have been chosen! Host Carson Daly announced the four finalists on Tuesday, May 12, in a show punctuated by performances from Walk The Moon, Snoop Dogg with coach Pharrell Williams, and the top five artists themselves.
The first artist named a finalist on Tuesday’s live show was Team Pharrell’s Sawyer Fredericks. This should come as no surprise to viewers, as Fredericks has become a regular on the iTunes charts. Despite that, Fredericks expressed his surprise when competing coach Blake Shelton named him the frontrunner during Monday night’s performance show. “I was not expecting him to say that!” he told Us Weekly. “We’re all amazing original artists here."
Meghan Linsey was the second artist to move onto the finals, continuing to make her coach, Shelton, proud. "She loves to sing and she’s going to do it no matter what the situation is and it’s cool to see her be rewarded for it,” the country star beamed to Us.
The last artist pushed through to the finals was Joshua Davis from Team Adam Levine, leaving Team Christina Aguilera’s India Carney and Team Pharrell’s Koryn Hawthorne to sing for the instant Twitter Save.
Ultimately, Daly named Hawthorne as the fourth finalist, with Carney to be sent home, thus eliminating Team Christina from the competition.
After three consecutive weeks at the bottom, the semifinalist is not leaving without grace. "I’m going to be incredibly proud of whoever wins because they deserve it,” Carney told Us after Monday night’s performance. "I have worked an enormous amount to be here and to be living my dream like this and I’m very happy and honored to see where I’ve come."
