Where are you, Brad Pitt? Body-art fans have a new reason to get excited, as TLC is soon launching the series Tattoo Girls, Us Weekly can exclusively announce. Watch the wild first promo above!
The six-episode unscripted show — debuting Tuesday, January 24 — centers on Ink Ink, a tattoo shop in Springfield, Missouri, which happens to be Pitt’s hometown. The series focuses on the employees’ friendships and working relationships as they also deal with their everyday lives.
“Springfield’s very close-minded and very religious,” shop owner Kelsey tells the camera in the trailer. “Everyone in Springfield has kids already — they were having kids before they were out of high school. Nobody tell anybody in Springfield I said that!”
“Ink Ink is the only all-female tattoo shop in the Midwest,” she continues. “People travel from everywhere to get tattooed by us.… We get clients of all kinds. We get mothers and daughters, country boys, grandmas, farmers, punks, even the mayor. And maybe someday, Brad Pitt!”
Kelsey points out that her colleagues’ bonds are a big reason for the shop’s success. “The girls and I have known each other since we were teenagers,” she says. “We do everything together. I’ve had customers tell us that 90 percent of coming to Ink Ink is watching us have fun with each other.”
The cast includes Nikki, a single-mom tattoo artist and Kelsey’s longtime friend; Megan, the lead artist but the youngest on the team; Brittany, shop manager and the person who does all the piercings; and Liz, a new hotshot artist from Dallas who butts heads with a number of her colleagues.
