Bristol’s most well-known family member is her mother, who became the governor of Alaska in 2006. Republican presidential candidate John McCain tapped her to be his running mate in the 2008 election, but they lost to Barack Obama and Joe Biden. The following year, Sarah announced she would not seek a second term as governor. In 2010, the America by Heart author, who has since become a political commentator, starred on a reality series called Sarah Palin’s Alaska, which featured the politician living her life with her family in their home state.

Bristol’s father is a salmon fisherman in Bristol Bay, Alaska — the town that inspired the reality star’s name — and also a champion snowmobile racer. In March 2016, he was badly injured in a “very serious” snowmobile accident, during which he suffered a collapsed lung. Despite that, he continues to compete. Todd also made headlines in December 2017, when he was involved in an altercation with his son Track, during which he retrieved a pistol to “protect his family.”

Bristol’s youngest sibling, Trig — who was diagnosed with Down syndrome while Sarah was pregnant with him — was born in April 2008. On World Down Syndrome Day in March 2017, Bristol shared a sweet photo of Trig on Instagram. “Happy World Down Syndrome Day!!!! Trig continues to light up our world!! He IS the boss around here and continues to fill our days with so much laughter! He is stubborn, and knows exactly what he wants - right this second,” she wrote. “Trig is our definition of perfection and there isn't one day that goes by without us feeling so thankful that God chose us to be his family.”

Willow, who is four years younger than Bristol, got engaged to Ricky Bailey in December 2017 at Rockefeller Center in New York City. She celebrated her bachelorette festivities with her two sisters and mother in July 2018.

Piper, the youngest of the Palin daughters, routinely shares photos of her family on her social media accounts. In July 2016, she modeled a shirt that read “Pro Life Pro God Pro Gun” and expressed her support for Donald Trump in November of that year.

Bristol became a household name in 2008 when her mother announced Bristol was expecting her first child at the age of 17 with her fiancé at the time, Levi Johnston. A few weeks after Tripp’s birth, Bristol and Levi broke off their engagement. The pair got engaged again in July 2010 before ending things for good in two months later. He is now married to Sunny Oglesby.

Tripp, born in December 2008, is Bristol's first child, whom she shares with ex-fiancé Johnston.

Bristol and Meyer first met in 2014 when the Afghanistan war veteran was in Alaska to film an episode of Amazing America. They began dating shortly afterward and got engaged in March 2015. Two months later, days before they were set to marry, they called off their engagement, which Bristol recounted in a blog on Patheos.com in May 2015 as “a painful time.” They announced in June 2016 they had quietly wed, but the former U.S Marine filed for divorce in February 2018. Bristol confirmed on August 1, 2018, in an Instagram post that she was “freshly divorced.”

The Not Afraid of Life: My Journey So Far author announced that she was pregnant with her second child in June 2015, shortly after she called off her engagement to Meyer. Bristol and Dakota welcomed Sailor in December 2015.

The former The Secret Life of the American Teenager actress announced she and Meyer were expecting their second child together in December 2016. “We are so excited to announce that our family is expanding! God has blessed us so much; we are thankful for His grace and new beginnings," the couple said in a joint statement to Entertainment Tonight. In March 2017, the pair revealed the gender of the baby with a post on Instagram that read, "Dakota and Tripp officially outnumbered. So excited to let you all know, ITS A GIRL!!" Atlee was born in May 2017.
