A relative unknown when she was cast as girl next door Joey Potter, Holmes' character pined for Dawson Leery (James Van Der Beek). Her character eventually fell for bad boy Pacey Witter (Joshua Jackson). By series' end, Joey becomes a junior editor living in NYC with her writer boyfriend, Christopher (Jeremy Sisto).
As high school student and aspiring filmmaker Dawson Leery, Van Der Beek's character blossomed during the series' six seasons. After his parents' divorce and his own relationship troubles, Dawson went on to become the executive producer and chief writer of a TV show based on his own experiences in Capeside, Massachusetts.
Banished to the suburbs for her bad girl ways, NYC transplant Jen Lindley (played by Williams) grew to love the quiet life in Capeside, Massachusetts. After helping pal Jack McPhee (Kerr Smith) come out of the closet, she reluctantly applied to college and dated Charlie (Chad Michael Murray) and C.J. (Jensen Ackles). Her character, a single mother, passed away at age 25 due to a fatal heart condition in the series finale.
The actress and mother of Matilda, 12, received her first Oscar nomination in 2005 for her role in Brokeback Mountain. She went on to be niminated for Blue Valentine in 2010, My Week with Marilyn in 2011 and Manchester by the Sea in 2016. She has also recieved high praise for her role in All the Money in the World.
As troublemaker with a soft side Pacey Witter, Jackson's character stepped out of his cop brother's shadow and became the owner of The Icehouse, a successful restaurant in Capeside, Massachusetts. After having an affair with his high school teacher, Pacey went on to date Andie McPhee (Meredith Monroe), Jen Lindley (Michelle Williams) and Joey Potter (Katie Holmes).
Jackson starred as Peter Bishop in the hit sci-fi series Fringe from 2008 to 2013, but the actor’s love of live theater led him to stints on Broadway and in London’s West End. He’s also been featured in several films, including Shutter and the acclaimed One Week. After portraying spurned spouse Cole Lockhart on The Affair, Jackson branched out to streaming services, playing a defense attorney in Netflix’s When They See Us and Hulu’s Little Fires Everywhere. Most recently, he’s been romantically linked with actress Jodie Turner-Smith.
