'Dazed and Confused' Cast: Where Are They Now? Matthew McConaughey, Ben Affleck and More

Alright, alright, alright! It’s been decades since Dazed and Confused hit the big screen, but the cult classic is still attracting new fans. Directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Richard Linklater, the 1993 film follows a group of Texas high school students on their last day of school in 1976. Covering everything from to freshman hazing to teen romance, the beloved movie captured the spirit and sentiment of the era. Though the film made very little money when it premiered, it’s now often cited as one of the best movies about teenage life ever made. In June 2019, Linklater said that he loves finding out that people who weren't alive in the 1970s — or the 1990s — love the film. "I also enjoy people who weren’t even born then liking the film. It tells you there’s something about teenagedom that never changes." The film also boasts one of the most impressive ensemble casts ever, with some of its stars — Ben Affleck, for example — eventually climbing to the top of Hollywood's A-list. Jason London

London played Randall “Pink” Floyd, the disaffected football player at the heart of the film. Since his ride around the streets of Austin, Texas, London has appeared in movies including Broken Vessels, Poor White Trash, The Rage: Carrie 2, Out Cold and All Roads Lead Home. He’s also racked up a slew of TV credits in shows including CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, Grey's Anatomy, Criminal Minds and NCIS.

The actor was married to Charlie Spradling, with whom he shares one daughter, from 1997 to 2006. London and Sofia Karstens tied the knot in 2011.

Joey Lauren Adams

Since appearing as Simone Kerr in Dazed and Confused, Adams went on to star in Coneheads, Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Big Daddy and Chasing Amy, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She has also appeared in TV shows including United States of Tara, Grey’s Anatomy, Veronica Mars and Still the King.

Adams has been married to cinematographer Brian Vilim since 2014.

Wiley Wiggins

Wiggins has kept a relatively low profile since his memorable role as freshman Mitch Kramer. He later starred in Boys in 1996 and Computer Chess in 2013. He also reunited with Linklater for the animated film Waking Life in 2001.

The Texas native is now a visual artist and video game designer.

Michelle Burke

Burke played Mitch’s friendly older sister, Jodi Kramer. After her turn in '70s denim, the actress starred in movies including Coneheads, Major League II, Midnight in Saint Petersburg and LOL. She also appeared in TV shows including Tales From the Crypt, Little Men, Sliders and Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior.

She married singer-songwriter Scott Thomas in 1995, and the pair have three children together.

Anthony Rapp

As Tony Olson, Rapp was the anxious and talkative geek who decides to let loose for the first time in his young adult life. After Dazed and Confused, Rapp built a long and celebrated career in theater, film and TV. The actor is perhaps best known for his role as Mark Cohen in Rent, which he originated on Broadway and brought to the screen in the show’s film adaptation. Since 2017, he has played Lieutenant Paul Stamets on Star Trek: Discovery.

During the height of the #MeToo movement, the actor opened up about his experience with sexual harassment as a minor working in the entertainment industry. Rapp alleged that actor Kevin Spacey made unwanted sexual advances toward him when he was 14 years old. After coming forward, Rapp became a vocal advocate for change in the industry. Spacey, for his part, claimed he didn't recall the encounter. “But if I did behave then as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior, and I am sorry for the feelings he describes having carried with him all these years,” the House of Cards alum said at the time.

Matthew McConaughey

Dazed and Confused was McConaughey’s first major movie gig, and the actor didn’t waste any time making his mark. In fact, his role as Wooderson expanded once he arrived on set and started vining with his castmates. Wooderson’s iconic line — “alright, alright, alright” — was also all McConaughey’s idea.

The Texas native later starred in films including Interstellar, Magic Mike and The Wolf of Wall Street and led season 1 of HBO's True Detective. In 2014, he earned an Academy Award for his performance in Dallas Buyers Club.

McConaughey married model and designer Camila Alves in 2012, and the pair have three children together.

Adam Goldberg

Goldberg played Mike, who gets beaten up by Clint (Nicky Katt) during the kegger. He went on to appear in films including Saving Private Ryan, A Beautiful Mind, Zodiac, The Hebrew Hammer and 2 Days in Paris. He also landed a few scene-stealing roles on Friends, Fargo and The Jim Gaffigan Show.

The actor shares two children with artist Roxanne Daner, whom he married in 2014.

Parker Posey

Posey starred as the terrifying senior Darla Marks, who took hazing to a new level. She has since played memorable characters in films including Best in Show, You’ve Got Mail, Superman Returns, Josie and the Pussycats, The Sweetest Thing and Inside Out. Her many TV credits include Louie, The Staircase and Search Party. In 2018, she published a memoir titled You're on an Airplane.

Milla Jovovich

Jovovich had a small role in Dazed and Confused as Michelle Burroughs. She is perhaps best known for her starring role in the Resident Evil films, based on the iconic video game series. The former model also starred in The Fifth Element, Zoolander and Hellboy. In addition to her storied acting career, Jovovich has released two albums.

Ben Affleck

Affleck was just 20 years old when he played Fred O'Bannion, a super-senior with an appetite for hazing. He went on to star in movies including Good Will Hunting, Armageddon, Shakespeare in Love, Gone Girl and The Way Back. The Massachusetts native has also won two Oscars, picking up a screenwriting trophy with BFF Matt Damon in 1998 for Good Will Hunting and winning Best Picture for Argo in 2013. In 2016, Affleck tried his hand at the superhero genre when he took on the role of Bruce Wayne — a.k.a. Batman — in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice.

The Justice League star wed Jennifer Garner in 2005. The duo — who share children Violet, Seraphina and Samuel — called it quits in 2015. In 2021, Affleck rekindled his romance with Jennifer Lopez, whom he previously dated from 2002 to 2004. The couple tied the knot in July 2022.

Rory Cochrane

Cochrane appeared as long-haired stoner Ron Slater, who is perhaps one of the most beloved characters from Dazed and Confused. In the years that followed, the actor starred in films including Empire Records, Argo (which saw him reunite with Affleck), Public Enemies and Black Mass. From 2002 to 2007, he played investigator Tim Speedle on CSI: Miami.

Marissa Ribisi

The Los Angeles native — and twin sister of Giovanni Ribisi — played Cynthia, who ends up falling for Wooderson’s charms. After Dazed and Confused, she appeared in True Crime, The Brady Bunch Movie, Pleasantville and Don's Plum, and racked up a few TV roles on Friends, Felicity and Tales of the City.

The actress married singer Beck in 2004. The "Loser" singer filed for divorce in 2019 and the pair's split was finalized two years later. The duo share son Cosimo and daughter Tuesday.
