'The Masked Singer' Debuts Firefly, Cyclops and More in Season 7: A Complete List of Contestant Clues

Who is that? The Masked Singer's seventh season started making headlines before the premiere even aired, thanks to one controversial contestant. One month before the show's March 9 premiere, Deadline reported that panelists Robin Thicke and Ken Jeong walked off set after one of the new characters was unmasked as Rudy Giuliani. The former New York City mayor's costume remained a secret at the time, but some fans were upset that the otherwise apolitical show had chosen such a polarizing figure for the cast. The Giuliani controversy came nearly two years after the series drew backlash for inviting former Alaska Governor Sarah Palin to compete as the Bear. The Going Rogue author was sent home in March 2020 during her first episode after performing a rendition of Sir Mix-a-Lot's "Baby Got Back." "I knew it would be so refreshing and so freeing and well, in a real respectful way, kind of a walking middle finger to the haters out there in the world where I could do whatever I wanted to do and not care what anybody said because they wouldn’t know until after the fact," she said during a May 2020 episode of the Masked Singer aftershow. "So it all worked out." Giuliani wasn't unmasked during the season 7 premiere, but the episode still made headlines after the McTerrier accidentally knocked his own head off mid-performance. The contestant managed to hide his face from the panelists, but he still got unmasked at the end of the episode after being voted the weakest performer of the evening. Though he went home first, Duff Goldman, who was inside the McTerrier costume, still had a blast competing on the show. "I had so much fun on The Masked Singer," he said in a post-show video shared via the series' official Instagram account. "Everybody here is so cool. I put on this outfit and all of a sudden, I know I'm singing for millions of people, and I totally didn't care. It was incredible." The Charm City Cakes founder also made history as the first person to accidentally lose their mask during the show. McTerrier: Team Good

McTerrier's first clue package showed him advertising a "terry towel" that's good for cleaning anything right up to the edges. Other hints included a gold vinyl record, red birthday cake and a hatchet with a gold star on it. After his first performance, McTerrier noted that he plays many instruments and considers himself an artist.

Ram: Team Bad

Ram's first clue package began with a theater marquee reading "Macbeth x Hamlet." Other hints included a referee calling a touchdown, a piggy bank reading "quarter return" and a horse figurine. The package also noted that the Ram has heard boos and cheers in his career, is used to telling stories "under lights" and has followed in his father's footsteps.

During the March 16 episode, Ram hinted that he knew guest panelist Eric Stonestreet. His mega clue was a golden envelope, which he said he would add to his "collection."

Cyclops: Team Bad

Cyclops told the panelists that he connected with monsters more than heroes as a child. His first clue package included a compass pointing southeast, a turtle wearing a cowboy hat and a comic book.

In the March 16 episode, Cyclops revealed his mega clue: a meteorite that he said crashed to Earth in 1988. He added that it came from "a galaxy far away" and landed in Jeong's backyard. 

Cyclops' third clue package featured a replica of Michelangelo's David statue and a lottery ticket with the number "15" on it. He mentioned that one of his favorite musicians previously asked him to feature on their album and he was super flattered. There was also a hint that he hosts or has been on a podcast.

Thingamabob: Team Cuddly

Thingamabob said that he "grew up" with rock music, which "transformed" him. His first clue package included a bald eagle, a tip jar with a bell on it, a tackle box and a Hotel California ornament. Bulldog, who was unmasked as Nick Cannon in season 5, also made a cameo during the package.

In week two, Thingamabob joked that he could have bench-pressed Jeong when he was 8 years old. He also said a lot of people think he's big and scary, but he wants to show his cuddly side as the Thingamabob. His mega clue was a group of shields carried by the men in black, and he noted he left his "trident" backstage. 

The third clue package included a red suitcase with a black bull on it. Thingamabob said that he didn't have much as a child and wanted nothing but the approval of his parents. When he finally started pursuing his dream, his parents were "skeptical" and his siblings stopped talking to him. He also told the panel that not everyone believed he could succeed on The Masked Singer because of what his job is.

Lemur: Team Cuddly

Lemur's first clue package included a magazine called Hart, a flower crown, a sun wearing sunglasses and a guitar-shaped lamp. While speaking to the panelists, Lemur said that she loves lights, camera and action. The judges also suspected that a rock in the clue package was a reference to Rolling Stone magazine.

Hydra: Team Bad

Hydra's first clue package included an illustration of a shark, an ATM and a pair of skis with the word "Miami" on them. The video also showed a Magic 8 Ball toy with the message, "Ask your amigos" and a beach ball with a picture of a bull on it. It wasn't clear how many people were inside the suit, but Hydra hinted that they had been "bad boys" in the past.

In the April 6 episode, Hydra's mega clue was a deck of cards that was entirely made up of jokers.

Armadillo: Team Good

"I was born on a mountain, raised in a cave, and scrappin' and singing is all I crave," Armadillo told the panelists after his solo. His first clue package included a bow and arrow, rocks, a cake made of beef and hot dogs roasting on a grill.

For his mega clue, Armadillo showed a motorcycle and joked that someone had taken his keys to the "wild hog." He added, "Shame these guys had to walk my bike out — looks like it's dead." 

In the April 13 episode, Armadillo said that he used to bad, and maybe even had been behind bars before. His clue package included a dog leash, Texas flag and a toy bus with the word "fugitive" written on it. Armadillo also credited his mom with helping him get through tough times.

Miss Teddy: Team Cuddly

During the March 30 episode, Miss Teddy's first clue package hinted that she has constantly reinvented herself. The video featured a caterpillar transforming into a monarch butterfly, as a well as a Santa Claus statue and laughing face emoji. The panelists also noted that the men in black were dressed in gospel choir gowns during the video.

Miss Teddy's mega clue was a note from the Grammys with the message, "Congrats on the win." She said that winning a Grammy was "one of the greatest moments" of her life, then recited some of the lyrics to Gloria Gaynor's song "I Will Survive." 

In the April 13 episode, Miss Teddy began her clue package by saying that some have called her career a "masterpiece." Her clue package included a photo of three Supreme Court justices and a picture of Eddie Murphy with the words "big audition" printed on it. Miss Teddy noted that she thought fans wouldn't care about her anymore after she stopped using her voice, but they proved her wrong.

Jack in the Box: Team Bad

During his first and only clue package, Jack in the Box said that he had officiated more than 200 weddings. Some of the visual clues included a football with a four-leaf clover on it, a gavel and a sign listing the four seasons. "I get put in a box a lot," he told the judges after his performance.

Baby Mammoth: Team Cuddly

In the April 20 episode, Baby Mammoth's advertisement focused on shampoo and conditioner. The clue package included a silver medal, a matchbook and megaphone with the word "cheer" written on the side. After performing, Baby Mammoth told the judges that they've won "lots of silver" but they want to go for the gold on The Masked Singer.

Baby Mammoth's mega clue, revealed in the April 27 episode, was a birdcage with a sign on it reading, "Danger: Wild Animal." While speaking to the panel, Baby Mammoth explained, "All animals should be wild things."

Queen Cobra: Team Bad

Queen Cobra's first clue package included a rocket emoji, a moneybag and a hook hand. "I'm here to keep you all on your toes," she told the judges. "Get ready for some action." Her April 20 video also showed a photo of Bradley Cooper and a coffee pot sitting next to a mug with the Batman logo on it.

During the April 27 episode, it became clear that Queen Cobra is at least two people, if not more. The Queen Cobra mega clue was a large red heart reading, "B. Mine." Celebrity friend Holly Robinson Peete said, "I'm sure America will by hypnotized by your vocals." 

In the May 4 clue package, the Queen Cobras said they come from "very different worlds" but each have "a wicked amount of talent." The visual clues included chili peppers, a guy playing the saxophone and a photo of Mariah Carey, Celine Dion and Ariana Grande. They also said their favorite fairy-tale is The Wiz.

Space Bunny: Team Cuddly

Space Bunny's April 20 clue package included a basketball on fire and a shaggy dog. There was also a copy machine that printed out a red handprint, and at one point, Space Bunny got stung by a bee.

In the April 27 episode, Space Bunny's mega clue was a dumbbell labeled as being 500 pounds. "I've been doing a lot of intense training over the years," Space Bunny said. "Ready to knock the competition out."

During the May 4 episode, Space Bunny said that he came from a small town but moved away with his mother when he was still young. His clue package included a boombox, a crown, angels and a drill bit.

Prince: Team Good

Prince made his debut during the April 20 episode with a clue package that featured the planet Mars, a teddy bear, a diamond ring and the number 2006. After his performance, he told the judges he was happy to be back on a team and wanted to hit it out of the park on The Masked Singer, adding that he'd been in front of big crowds before. His celeb BFF was Jamie Lee Curtis.

During the April 27 episode, Prince's mega clue was a navy blue duffel bag. "I've toured a lot of hotels all over the world," Prince explained. 

Prince described himself as a "young toad who dreamed of escaping my small pond" in the May 4 episode. His clue package included Carnegie Hall, a pencil, sheet music, a wristwatch, bats and a toy plane. "I knew I had something special to share with the world, but it felt like no one was listening," he said. He also noted that music was his first love, but he's now known for something else. 

In the finale, one of the Men in Black wore a badge reading, "Glee Club Alumni." The clue package also included a Broadway street sign, a poster of a cat and a photo of Ryan Murphy. Prince told the panelists that he wanted to win the show for his family.

Ringmaster: Team Good

Ringmaster's first clue package included a coffee mug with a picture of Miley Cyrus and the state of Montana on it, as well as a driver's license from the Golden State. There was also a bottle with a label reading "Sweet Southern" and a tic-tac-toe with one "X" marked out in the center of the board. When speaking to the panelists, Ringmaster said that it was nice to see Scherzinger again.

In the April 6 episode, Ringmaster's mega clue was an acoustic guitar and a pick with an illustration about the '90s on it. "I'm a '90s chick, but I've been songwriting for as long as I can remember," Ringmaster explained. 

Ringmaster's April 13 clue package included a laughing face emoji, a sign reading "welcome to Nashville" and a board with "NASA" written on it. "I wondered if I ever would be good enough," she said about her first day at a "prestigious" school. "That only pushed me to work even harder. I always did my own thing, but my mentors wanted me to join the in crowd, so I did. I'd never been part of a group before, and we tried our best to make it work, but I knew I wanted more. So, I took a chance doing something completely different, and it's been paying off for the last 10 years."

In the season finale, Ringmaster said that music was her first "passion," but her life led her in a different direction. "Over the years, the music has been silenced, and my life took a different path," she recalled. Her final clue package included a mouse in a princess dress, a photo of Simon Cowell, a horse and a guy wearing a necklace with the number "80" as a charm.

Firefly: Team Good

Firefly's inaugural clue package included a playbill from an Apollo Theater comedy show, a photo of Tyler Perry and a gold replica of the Statue of Liberty. After her first outing, she told the panelists that she's been performing her entire life.

For her mega clue, Firefly revealed a photo of Pharrell Williams, who she said had been one of the major "keys" of her career. Reflecting on her stumble during the season premiere, she said, "The show must go on." 

In the March 23 episode, Firefly said that she loved dressing up in her mother's clothes as a child and performing for an imaginary audience. At that point, the clue package showed a photo of Kanye West. She said she performed for her neighbors and one of them actually helped her get her first gig. The package also included a fire alarm and a stick of dynamite labeled "TNT." 

During the May 18 finale, Firefly's last clue package included a keyboard, a basketball hoop and a TV with the letter "M" on the screen. "I refuse to fade away," she explained. "And being on this stage has let me shine bright again."
