Thousands of roses were handed out across the several shows in the Bachelor franchise during the last decade … but not all romances ended with a happy ending. The decade began with Jake Pavelka as The Bachelor and season 14, which ran from January 2010 to March 2010, certainly ended tumultuously when Jake and Vienna Girardi called it quits shortly after the season ended and fought about their split during an explosive joint interview. Other notable leads during the decade included Sean Lowe, Ben Higgins, Nick Viall and Colton Underwood. The Bachelorette also aired 10 seasons during the 2010s and history was made when Rachel Lindsay was named the first black lead of the series. Earlier this year, the lawyer told Us Weekly that she is concerned that no other people of color have been given the lead role. Rozlyn Gets Kicked Off Jake’s Season for Having Relationship With Crew Member (2010)

Rozlyn Papa went on season 14 of The Bachelor to compete for Jake's heart, but ended up getting the boot after she was accused of having an “inappropriate” relationship with a cameraman. 

"There was no making out! Unfortunately, I did not get any out of this big sex scandal that supposedly happened,” Rozlyn said after on local morning show after the episode aired. “If I had known that I was going to get accused of it, maybe I would have gone for it!"

Jake and Vienna’s Explosive Breakup (2010)

Jake and Vienna Girardi got engaged during the season 14 finale of The Bachelor, which aired in March 2010. By June, the twosome called it quits and subsequently aired each other’s dirty laundry during an explosive interview with Chris Harrison.

"I'm disgusted with you," the pilot exclaimed during the summer special. "What guy in America would ever want to be intimate with someone who undermines him, emasculates and doesn't respect him?"

Ali’s Bad Boys (2010)

Ali Fedotowsky’s season of The Bachelorette made headlines for her controversial contestants, including Kasey Kahl, who got six-inch tattoo of a heart being protected by a shield on his wrist for Ali, and Justin "Rated R" Rego, who ran away from the lead when she tried to confront him over allegations that he had a girlfriend at home.

Courtney and Ben Go Skinny Dipping … and She Wins (2012)

Courtney Robertson will always go down in Bachelor history as one of the most notorious villains … because she won! After making headlines for going skinny dipping in the ocean with season 16 Bachelor Ben Flajnik, Courtney accepted a proposal from the winery owner during the 2012 finale. The twosome later split.

Nick Takes the Money From Rachel on ‘Bachelor Pad’ Season 3 Finale (2012)

Nick Peterson caused a lot of controversy in 2012 when he opted to keep the $250,000 prize instead of splitting the money with his partner Rachel Truehart during the third and final season of Bachelor Pad.

“My intentions were never to hurt Rachel. It was a game. It's no different than all the other moves everyone else was making all season. I never lied all season, I never made an enemy. I stayed away, I kept friends with everyone. The goal was to win," Peterson, who admitted that the pair were planning to split the prize until he saw footage of her trash talking him, told E! News at the time.

Sean and Catherine’s ‘Grown Sexy’ Wedding (2014)

Sean Lowe and Catherine Giudici, who met during season 17 of The Bachelor, proved the original series could still produce a pure love story when they tied the knot in front of ABC cameras in January 2014.

Juan Pablo and Clare in the Ocean (2014)

Clare Crawley made waves (literally) when she was accused of having sex with Juan Pablo Galavis in the ocean during season 18 of The Bachelor. While no one ever confirmed what went down in the sea, fans slammed Juan Pablo after he allegedly told Clare, “I love f—king you but I don’t know you,” when he sent her home during the finale.

Andi and Nick’s ‘After the Final Rose’ Confrontation (2014)

Nick Viall came out swinging after he was sent home by Andi Dorfman before he was going to propose during the season 10 finale of The Bachelorette. ”If you weren't in love with me, I'm just not sure why, like, why you made love with me,” Nick said to a visibly angry Andi during the After the Final Rose special in 2014.

Ashley S.’s Onion Meltdown (2015)

Ashley Salter turned heads several times during Chris Soules season of The Bachelor, but perhaps her wackiest moment was when she thought she saw an onion growing on a tree. 

"Every person you meet is like an onion. You cut 'em, but when you cut them, you peel them back, and what you do is you peel them back layer by layer,” she declared during season 19 of series.

Kelsey and Ashley in the Badlands (2015)

Kelsey Poe was the other controversial character on Chris’ season. And her two-on-one date with Ashley Iaconetti in the Badlands will go down as one of the most dramatic in history after the farmer ditched both women in the national park.

Kaitlyn and Nick Have Sex After He Crashes the Season (2015)

Nick’s sex life made headlines again when he joined Kaitlyn Bristowe’s season of The Bachelorette and slept with the Canadian before the fantasy suite dates. 

“Women can have sex if they choose, and women can wait till marriage if they choose. Point is, IT’S THEIR CHOICE,” the season 11 Bachelorette wrote at the time via Twitter. “When you’re making a life altering decision to find a life partner, intimacy can be important. Why is that so hard to understand?”

Jade and Tanner Get Married … and Nick Sleeps With Liz at the Wedding (2016)

After meeting while filming Bachelor in Paradise season 2, Jade Roper and Tanner Tolbert tied the knot in front of ABC cameras and Bachelor Nation. While their wedding was beautiful, their nuptials made the list because Nick had sex with Jade’s bridesmaid Liz Sandoz … and it later came back to haunt him.

Olivia’s Left on the Beach (2016)

Olivia Caridi didn’t get along with the other women during Ben Higgins’ season 20 of The Bachelor. In addition to storylines about her cankles and comparing young mom Amanda Stanton’s life to an episode of Teen Mom, Olivia was left on the beach by Ben after a two-on-one with Emily Ferguson.

Ben Says the L Word to Lauren and JoJo (2016)

Ben came under fire during the finale of his season after he told both of his final two — Lauren Bushnell and JoJo Fletcher — that he was in love with them. “It wasn’t like I didn’t know I had feelings for them, but I think once I heard that from them, and I was validated in that, [and] I could say openly to them, ‘Hey, I love you, too’ — we all needed it,” he told Us at the time. “We all needed to hear where we stood because I think we all knew it, but it just needed to be said. … That was my feelings at the time — it was my feelings in this situation. I don’t regret being honest.” 

JoJo was subsequently shocked when Ben opted to give Lauren his final rose. While the twosome went on to star on a spinoff series titled Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?, they called off their engagement in May 2017.

Nick Viall Is Named the Bachelor (2017)

Nick had a busy decade, but the most screen time the “Viall Files” podcast host got was when he was named the lead for season 21 of The Bachelor. The news, which came after two seasons on The Bachelorette and a stint on Bachelor in Paradise season 3, shocked viewers.

Corinne’s Nanny (2017)

Cheese pasta! Nick’s season quickly made headlines after contestant Corinne Olympios revealed she had a nanny named Raquel, who fans met during Corinne’s hometown date.

Rachel Becomes the First Black Bachelorette (2017)

Rachel Lindsay made history as the first black lead of The Bachelor and Bachelorette in 2017. Rachel, who appeared on Nick’s season of The Bachelor, went on to marry the winner Bryan Abasolo two years after season 13 wrapped.

‘Bachelor in Paradise’ Season 4 Shutdown (2017)

After a producer filed a sexual misconduct complaint involving Corinne and DeMario Jackson while filming Bachelor in Paradise season 4, production on the series halted. Following an investigation, Warner Brothers ultimately found no evidence of wrongdoing and production resumed without Corinne and DeMario.

Arie Dumps Becca for Lauren After Proposal (2018)

Last decade’s Jason Mesnick is this decade’s Arie Luyendyk Jr. The former racecar driver blindsided Becca Kufrin after he proposed to her during the season 22 finale … and then decided he wanted to be with runner-up Lauren Burnham. After The Bachelor aired their entire breakup scene unedited, Arie got engaged to Lauren during the After the Final Rose special and Becca was named the new Bachelorette.

Colton Jumps the Fence (2019)

Colton Underwood lost it after frontrunner Cassie Randolph tried to quit the series when there was still three women left. As a result, Colton ran away from producers and even jumped over a fence to avoid the cameras. In the end, the former football player reunited with Cassie after sending Tayshia Adams and Caelynn Miller-Keyes home early.

Hannah and Peter in the Windmill (2019)

Hannah Brown was forced to defend herself after Luke Parker said he wouldn’t want to be with her if she had sex with any of the other contestants. 

“I have had sex. And honestly, Jesus still loves me. From obviously how you feel, me f–king in a windmill, you probably wanna leave,” Hannah declared during season 15 of the series. “I f–ked in a windmill. And guess what? We did it a second time!”

It was later revealed that Peter Weber was the one who Hannah slept with during the fantasy suites, but he didn’t win her heart in the end. It was, however, revealed that she and Peter didn’t just have sex twice in the windmill. “It was actually four times,” she declared during the After the Final Rose special.

Blake's Stagecoach Hookups (2019)

Blake Horstmann was the talk of the beach after his past Stagecoach hookups Caelynn and Kristina Schulman arrived on Bachelor in Paradise season 6. After Caelynn accused Blake of ghosting him and not telling the truth about the nature of their relationship, he took to Instagram and shared their private text messages from the night of their music festival hookup.
