‘Roswell’ Original Cast: Where Are They Now?

Cue Dido’s “Here With Me”! Roswell's legacy still looms large, two decades later. The series, based on the Roswell High YA books by Melinda Metz, debuted on October 6, 1999. Shiri Appleby, Majandra Delfino, Colin Hanks and Nick Wechsler played high school teens in Roswell, New Mexico, who befriended a trio of teenage alien-human hybrids, played by Katherine Heigl, Jason Behr and Brendon Fehr. Tension ensued as the human teens tried to keep their new friends’ alien origins a secret while a government investigation threatened to expose them all. The show ran for two seasons on The WB and one on UPN before airing its series finale on May 14, 2002. 15 years later, the franchise got new life when The CW ordered a pilot for a reboot titled Roswell, New Mexico. The new series, which debuted on January 15, 2019, recast the main characters as adults, with Jeanine Mason’s Liz — now the daughter of undocumented immigrants — returning to Roswell only to discover that her teenage crush, Nathan Parsons’ Max, is an alien. If anything has stayed the same between the original series and the reboot, it’s the series' love for a romance plot. “I love love stories. I love love stories that aren’t always super easy. But there is certainly romance this season. Tragic romance is still romance,” former showrunner Carina Adly MacKenzie told Us Weekly exclusively ahead of season 2 of The CW show in March 2020. [jwplayer LfhwE160-l3ahXupL] Appleby previously raved about the reboot during an exclusive February 2018 interview, telling Us that she was excited for the story to continue. “I heard! I can’t wait for them to call me to direct an episode. I can’t wait to direct it,” Appleby she said with a laugh. “Jason Behr and I are back in touch and really close, and we’re actually looking for something to work on together. I don’t know if it’s Roswell or anything else, but I am excited to direct in the reboot.” The actress has gotten her wish fulfilled. After directing the March 2019 episode “Songs About Texas,” she helmed the 2020 installment “What If God Was One of Us,” which included her former costar. Shiri Appleby (Liz Parker)

After her time on Roswell, Appleby starred in the final season of ER and in the short-lived drama Life Unexpected — and guest-starred in Chicago Fire and Girls — before landing the lead role in the Lifetime drama Unreal.

She also directed two episodes of the reboot, Roswell: New Mexico, in 2019 and 2020 and appeared as a guest star on the series in 2022.

Jason Behr (Max Evans)

Behr starred in the horror films The Grudge and Skinwalkers. He also recurred in the A&E drama Breakout Kings and took roles in pilots The Way, Company Man, and Matadors — none of which made it to air. The Minnesota native also appeared in recurring roles during season 2 of Roswell, New Mexico in 2020 and season 6 of Supergirl in 2021.

Katherine Heigl (Isabel Evans)

Heigl graduated from Roswell to Grey’s Anatomy, playing Dr. Izzie Stevens in six seasons of the hit ABC drama. She also became a rom-com star in the late 2000s with starring roles in Knocked Up, 27 Dresses and The Ugly Truth. In 2021, TV fans fell in love with her all over again when she landed a starring role in Netflix’s Firefly Lane. The series was renewed for a second season in May 2021.

Majandra Delfino (Maria DeLuca)

Delfino’s post-Roswell career includes starring roles on the TV comedies State of Georgia and Friends With Better Lives. She also guest-starred on Boston Public, The Office and Bojack Horseman and reunited with Heigl in the film Life as We Know It.

Brendan Fehr (Michael Guerin)

Fehr had recurring roles on the TV dramas CSI: Miami, Bones and Wynonna Earp and a main role in the NBC medical drama The Night Shift. On the big screen, he had small parts in the blockbusters X-Men: First Class and Guardians of the Galaxy.

Nick Wechsler (Kyle Valenti)

Weschler may be best known for his role as Jack Porter on the ABC drama Revenge, a performance that landed him a Teen Choice Award nomination. After recurring on two NBC cop shows — Shades of Blue opposite Jennifer Lopez and Chicago P.D. — he joined the network’s hit drama This Is Us in its fourth season.

William Sadler (Sheriff Jim Valenti)

In recent years, Sadler has guest-starred on Madam Secretary, Blue Bloods, Power and When They See Us, as well as voicing multiple characters in My Cartoon President. He also played President Matthew Ellis in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing in Iron Man 3 and Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Colin Hanks (Alex Whitman)

Colin, son of Tom Hanks, starred in The Good Guys, Fargo and Life in Pieces on the small screen and Orange County, King Kong and the Jumanji franchise on the big screen.
