A Complete Timeline of Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn's 'Selling Sunset' Drama

From friends to barely cordial. After fans watched the seemingly polite friendship between Selling Sunset stars Chrishell Stause and Christine Quinn implode, the once friendly colleagues were caught in an intense roller-coaster of drama that only ramped up as the show continued.

During the season 1 finale, the two realtors faced off at a party when Christine alleged Chrishell was fake for seemingly questioning the authenticity of costar Mary Fitzgerald’s relationship with her now-husband, Romain Bonnet. Christine even called the Dancing With the Stars alum “a crazy person” and “shady.” From there, Chrishell blocked the How To Be a Boss Bitch author on social media. Since then, a truce between the pair has seemed unlikely.

“I don’t think it’s a secret, you know, we’re not friends,” the Kentucky native exclusively told Us Weekly in June 2021. “But I think the goal is to be able to be coworkers.”

While they are no longer pals who can catch up over a drink after filming, Christine previously told Us in March 2021 that they can handle working in the same office at The Oppenheim Group.

“Chrishell [and I] mainly have a professional relationship, we kind of keep it at that,” the reality TV personality said at the time. “I don’t really see her in the office that much, but, you know, we keep it professional.”

Prior to the Netflix show’s second season, which aired in May 2020, the duo’s rivalry heated up after Christine alleged that Chrishell hadn’t been truthful regarding her split from Justin Hartley. Us confirmed in November 2019 that the This is Us actor filed for divorce after two years of marriage, and in January 2021, the proceedings were made final.

In July 2020, Christine told Page Six: “We all just thought maybe they were having communication problems for a while. We heard that they were in therapy, so obviously there were some issues going on with them. … I hung out with him many times and he was an absolute doll. … He has been nothing but nice and supportive to us.”

At the time, the former soap star slammed her costar for publicly sharing false information, tweeting, “Let me be VERY clear. She knows absolutely nothing about the situation and is obviously desperate to gain attention by doing so. Anything from her is either a complete lie or total conjecture on her part.”

Chrishell continued in her post, “It’s so frustrating and unfortunate that someone would use someone’s personal painful situation to get press for themselves. I can’t say I am surprised, but please check the source. She has absolutely zero knowledge of the marriage we had.”

March 2019

During the Netflix show’s first season, the two real estate agents started off as fast friends. However, by the season finale, things had taken a turn. While the Oppenheim Group employees attended a party, Christine accused Chrishell of being two-faced for speculating about their coworker Mary’s relationship with Romain behind her so-called friend’s back. The How To Be a Boss Bitch author also called the Days of Our Lives alum dramatic, fake, shady and crazy during the scene.

Following the party, Christine was eventually ready to make amends with her colleague, but it was revealed that Chrishell had already her blocked on social media.

May 2020

By the time the second season returned, there was already existing drama between the two women. In one episode, Chrishell alleged that her former friend hosted a party without inviting her and apparently served a signature cocktail on the menu: “Chrishell's Two-Faced Tonic.” The retired actress also claimed that Christine told their coworkers to stop “liking” her Instagram posts. The tension continued throughout the season as the Under Construction author declined an invite to Christine’s engagement party. Chrishell later chatted with Mary, questioning the validity of the engagement altogether. Heather Rae Young then relayed this information to Christine.

July 2020

Before the show returned for its third season, Christine spoke to the press while Chrishell dealt with her public divorce from the Young and The Restless alum. At the time, the Texas native alleged her costar’s claims about being "blindsided" weren’t totally accurate since she had heard the former couple had been in therapy to work on their issues prior to their split.

Chrishell slammed those accusations via Twitter, writing, “I just learned Christine is giving press ‘information’ about my divorce. Let me be VERY clear. She knows absolutely nothing about the situation and is obviously desperate to gain attention by doing so. Anything from her is either a complete lie or total conjecture on her part.”

August 2020

Fans saw more of the divorce speculation unfold when season 3 premiered Christine spent a chunk of her scenes wondering what really happened to cause Chrishell’s split. At one point, she joked that Chrishell called paparazzi to wait outside her house — and she even contemplated taking the actor’s side amid the drama, questioning whether Chrishell was truly blindsided by the divorce. Since Chrishell didn’t know these conversations occurred, she tried to be the bigger person and attended Christine’s gothic wedding. At the reception, Davina Potratz told Chrishell that she wanted to know both sides of the story, causing Chrishell to leave abruptly.

August 2020

Christine revealed on the “Brandi Glanville Unfiltered” podcast that the feud was initially set up by producers. “From day one, obviously the producers had certain things in mind. They wanted us to clash obviously,” she recounted at the time. “At first, we didn’t. We got along great. We were friends. She was at my house. We were drinking, having a good time. I was getting to know her and then the storylines came into play.”

She and the All My Children alum “thought they were good at separating things” at first, understanding that what was on TV wasn’t the real truth. “Then we realized, ‘Oh s--t! This is affecting our real lives.’ I never wanted to fight with her. Are you kidding? Her and I had drinks. I made her dinner. I didn’t want that. That wasn’t me,” Christine said.

September 2020

One month later, the Young and the Restless alum dished that she was done trying to be friends with her Selling Sunset costar. During an interview with Glamour UK, she said, "I feel like in the beginning, there was a lot of me striving for acceptance and striving to fit in. At a certain point, you have to realize it’s just not going to work and it’s going to take away from my own happiness in trying to please her.”

 She also accepted that the pair likely wouldn’t be friends again or in the near future. “I feel like I’ve had to just get to a place where I have to be OK with that,” she continued. “And, you know, I wish her all the best, we’re off doing our own things and that’s OK. … You have to be able to recognize those relationships where you have to realize the effort is not working. Let’s just cut our losses and move on.”

May 2021

As the cast geared up to start shooting the fourth season, they first reunited via Instagram. In a snap of the Oppenheim Group employees, fans spotted Chrishell posing with Mary, Heather and Maya Vander. Heather captioned the pic: “Me & my GIRLS, back like we never left 😚💖 It’s been so long since we’ve all been able to be in the office together but we’re back and SO happy to be reunited!!!”

One day later, Christine posted a solo shot on her own Instagram with the caption, “🦠 I don’t hang with jealous bitches, that’s a weak disease. 🦠”

May 2021

After Christine gave birth to her son, Christian, the luxury realtor claimed that Chrishell did not send a baby gift or flowers. However, the Mistresses alum clapped back and revealed that she did send her costar something special. “I did send a gift,” the Kentucky native wrote in an Instagram comment. “You need to calm down on people’s lives if you are just guessing random things. Jeeze.”

June 2021

While Chrishell revealed she had met Christine’s son, she exclusively told Us that the pair are far from being friends again. “I don’t think it’s a secret, you know, we’re not friends,” she told Us at the time. “But I think the goal is to be able to be coworkers.”

July 2021

While appearing on the “Not Skinny But Not Fat” podcast, Chrishell dished to host Amanda Hirsh that things between the two coworkers had “gotten a little messy” behind the scenes of the Netflix series.

"There's so much stuff that goes on behind the scenes, you know," the former actress said. "It's just one of those things that just so much has happened.”

Chrishell added that her costar “really enjoys the drama” and is “the kind of person that [drama] gives me such anxiety, and I really want to enjoy coming to work.” She concluded, “We're probably not going to be hanging out as soon as the cameras are down.”

December 2021

Chrishell claimed in an interview with Vulture that she almost sued Christine for allegedly trying to “plant a false story when I was going through my divorce” with ex-husband Justin Hartley. “I had to have both sides confirm that it wasn’t true and then threaten legal action,” she said.

The former soap star called the move by her costar “below the belt” and alleged that she “had to spend thousands of dollars in legal fees” to keep the story from going public.

“You can understand how that really could take someone down and ruin them when everyone on the internet is trying to figure out what happened,” Chrishell told Vulture. “[Christine] takes it as an opportunity to fill in some blanks that were blatantly untrue. It was many steps too far for me.”
