'The Hangover' Cast: Where Are They Now

Throwback! The Hangover perfectly captured a guy’s weekend gone horribly wrong — and kick-started some major Hollywood careers in the process. The 2009 film follows Doug (Justin Bartha) and three of his friends (Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis) as they risk it all during Doug’s bachelor party in Las Vegas. However, things take a turn when they wake up unable to remember what went down — and unable to find the man who’s set to tie the knot. When it hit theaters, the raunchy comedy was a massive success, raking in $16,734,033 in one day. It has since grossed $467,416,722 worldwide and spawned two sequels: 2011’s The Hangover Part II and 2013’s The Hangover Part III. While it was a major hit among fans, the movie was also honored within the industry, even winning the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy in January 2010. The cast was also named the Detroit Film Critics Society’s pick for Best Ensemble. As the trilogy came to an end, Cooper opened up about the bond he formed with his costars through the years. And everybody can't play the same instrument, ideally,” he said of working with Helms, Galifianakis and Bartha during a 2013 interview with Collider. “But I think that we all have the same comedic tendencies, and that's why it works. We all sort of agree with what's funny. ... It's kind of a wonderful melting pot of ideas for every character.” Though the actors enjoyed making the outlandish franchise, they don’t seem to be rushing to reprise their roles in a fourth installment. “Look, that was a good chunk of my life that I do not regret at all, but I wished we had just done one,” Galifianakis admitted during an interview on the “WTF With Marc Maron” podcast in January 2016. “I think [it’s best to] leave well enough alone sometimes.” The Office alum echoed the Due Date star’s feelings four years later while playing a round of “Helms Yes or Helms No” with Access Hollywood. “I’m gonna say ‘Helms no’ because I think we Helms ran its course,” the Vacation star joked in May 2020 when asked about a possible fourth Hangover movie. Bradley Cooper (Phil)

The Hangover gave Cooper his big break. He has since been nominated for eight Academy Awards and a Tony Award, and has won two Grammy Awards and a BAFTA Award. Other notable film roles include 2011’s Limitless, 2012’s Silver Linings Playbook, 2013’s American Hustle and 2014’s American Sniper. In 2018, he wrote, directed and starred in A Star Is Born alongside Lady Gaga, who previously called rumors that the pair sparked a romance on set “very silly.”

Cooper was briefly married to Jennifer Esposito before being linked to Case 39 costar Renée Zellweger. He dated Irina Shayk from 2015 to 2019. Their daughter, Lea de Seine, was born in March 2017. 

Us confirmed in July 2022 that Cooper had been dating Huma Abedin "for a few months now" after being "set up" by Anna Wintour earlier that year. A source exclusively told Us that Cooper was briefly linked to Dianna Agron before meeting Abedin.

Zach Galifianakis (Alan)

The comedic actor got his start on VH1’s Late World With Zach in 2002 before stealing the spotlight in the Hangover trilogy. He went on to appear in Due Date (2010), The Campaign (2012), Birdman (2014) and Masterminds (2016). His digital talk show, Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifianakis, won an Emmy in 2014 and 2015 for Outstanding Short-Format Live-Action Entertainment Program. From 2016 to 2019, the North Carolina native starred as the title character on FX’s Baskets. He shares two sons with Quinn Lundberg, who he wed in August 2012.

Ed Helms (Stu)

Along with The Hangover, Helms is best known for portraying Andy Bernard on The Office from 2006 to 2013. He was also a correspondent on Comedy Central’s The Daily Show. The Oberlin alum has a background in sketch comedy and has done voice work in animated movies, including The Lorax (2012) and Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie (2017). His most recent show, Rutherford Falls, debuted on Peacock in 2021.

Ken Jeong (Mr. Chow)

Jeong was starring on NBC’s Community as the Hangover films helped his career take off. He went on to secure his own series on ABC, Dr. Ken, which ran from 2015 to 2017, and serves as a judge on Fox’s The Masked Singer. Also a licensed physician, the producer has appeared in big-ticket comedy films, including Knocked Up (2007), Role Models (2008), Ride Along 2 (2016), Crazy Rich Asians (2018) and Tom and Jerry (2021). The I Can See Your Voice host shares twin daughters with his wife, Tran Ho.

Justin Bartha (Doug)

The Florida native is also known for playing Riley Poole in the National Treasure film series and has also found success on TV, portraying David Sawyer on NBC’s The New Normal and Colin Morrello on CBS’ The Good Fight. Bartha wed Lia Smith in Hawaii in January 2014, three months before welcoming their first daughter, Asa. Two years later, daughter Ruby arrived.

Heather Graham (Jade)

Graham was previously known for roles in 1993’s Six Degrees of Separation and 1997’s Boogie Nights. After The Hangover, she starred in At Any Price (2012), Horns (2013) and returned for The Hangover Part III (2013). On the small screen, the Wisconsin native has appeared on Sex and the City, Scrubs, Californication and Angie Tribeca. She dated Israeli screenwriter Yaniv Raz from 2011 to 2018.

Sasha Barrese (Tracy)

Barrese was born in Hawaii and made a name for herself with small roles in American Pie (1999), Hellraiser: Inferno (2000) and Legally Blonde (2001). Apart from acting, the Supernatural alum has a successful career as a professional poker player, competing in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas in 2014, among other events.

Jeffrey Tambor (Sid)

The California native’s Hollywood career spanned decades before The Hangover, including roles in Mr. Mom (1983), There's Something About Mary (1998) and How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000). He’s also known for playing George Bluth Sr. and Oscar Bluth in Arrested Development, along with Maura Pfefferman on Transparent, which earned him two Emmy nominations for Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series. He left the show in 2017 after being accused of sexual misconduct by his former assistant, Van Barnes, and by actress Trace Lysette. He denied the allegations.

Mike Tyson (Himself)

Before he began acting, the New Yorker competed as a professional boxer from 1985 to 2005. While he’s considered to be one of the greatest heavyweight boxers, Tyson is also a controversial figure, having spent three years in prison after being convicted of rape. His lawyer at the time claimed Tyson believed the event was consensual. He was released on parole and has since starred in Adult Swim’s Mike Tyson Mysteries and appeared on Madonna’s 2015 song “Rebel Heart.” A documentary about his life titled Mike Tyson: The Knockout premiered on ABC in May 2021.

Rob Riggle (Officer Franklin)

The Kentucky native got his start on Saturday Night Live, leaving in 2005 after just one season. He went on to become a Daily Show correspondent and nabbed a recurring role on Modern Family from 2013 to 2019. Riggle’s film credits include as Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby (2006), 21 Jump Street (2012), Dumb and Dumber To (2014), Absolutely Anything (2015) and Night School (2018). He shares daughter Abigail and son George with Tiffany Riggle, from whom he split in October 2020.

Rachael Harris (Melissa)

Though she’s been on shows like Sister, Sister, Reno 911!, New Girl, Suits and The Good Wife, Harris might be best known for playing Shanna on Cougar Town and Dr. Linda Martin on Lucifer. The Kicking & Screaming actress eloped with violinist Christian Hebel in April 2015. The pair welcomed sons Henry and Otto in 2016 and 2018, respectively, before splitting in 2019.

Matt Walsh (Dr. Valsh)

From 2012 to 2019, Walsh portrayed Mike McLintock on HBO’s Veep, which earned him two Emmy nominations. He’s also known for his work in Road Trip (2000), Bad Santa (2003), School for Scoundrels (2006), Role Models (2008) and The Do-Over (2016). The Brooklyn Nine-Nine alum shares three children with Morgan Walsh.

Mike Epps (Black Doug)

The comedian replaced Martin Lawrence as the voice of Boog in 2008’s Open Season 2, but is best known for playing Day-Day Jones in 2000’s Next Friday and its 2002 sequel, Friday After Next. In 2014, police issued a warrant for Epps’ arrest after he allegedly assaulted comedian LaVar Walker in Atlanta. He claimed in a statement at the time that he was “falsely reported” as the “perpetrator of the incident.” Three years later, the Indiana native faced backlash for bringing a kangaroo onto the stage during one of his shows, for which he later apologized. Epps was previously married to Mechelle McCain from 2006 to 2017. He later wed Kyra Robinson in 2019.
