The Stars Joining Fall TV: Seann William Scott, Jenna Dewan and More
While the end of the season brings many stars exiting shows, fall TV means some of our favorite actors joining some of the hottest shows. Us Weekly has gathered together some of the biggest stars appearing on the small screen this season!
Following the firing of Clayne Crawford, Lethal Weapon is bringing in Seann William Scott as Wes, Murtagh’s new partner. A newby to TV, Scott tells Us Weekly that the show “feels like a movie” because of the production value. Plus, he gets along great with costar Damon Wayans, noting, “I just laugh all the time. I think it’s gonna be my biggest challenge, not laugh.”
Taking a break as host of World of Dance, Jenna Dewan landed a recurring role in Fox’s The Resident, playing Julian Lyn. The actress is not new to the TV world; in the past six years, she’s starred in American Horror Story: Asylum, Witches of East End, Supergirl and Man with a Plan. “I am mastering the art of planning ahead and the importance of a good master calendar,” she tells Us about balancing all her jobs.
Making her return to TV for the first time in three years, Jennifer Love Hewitt will take over as the new 911 operator, following the departure of Connie Britton, on Fox’s 9-1-1. Hewitt takes on the role of Buck’s sister Maddie who moved to town to get away from an abusive ex. As for why she came back to TV now, the answer is simple: “Ryan Murphy is amazing. When he calls, you do whatever he tells you to do.”
Following her recurring role on Shameless, Jessica Szohr has joined season 2 of Fox’s The Orville. She will be playing a new crew member onboard, and will reunite with her Gossip Girl costar Leighton Meester when Meester guest stars for one episode.
Season 3 of MTV’s Scream starts fresh and includes an entirely new cast, including the son of the late Biggie Smalls and singer Faith Evans. Wallace plays Amir in the season, a smart, shy student who gets mixed up in a mass killing. This marks Wallace’s first television role.
Following his leading role on CMT’s Sun Records, One Tree Hill alum Chad Michael Murray landed a recurring role in season 3 of Fox’s Star. He’ll take on the role of Xander McPherson, a real estate investor who is romantically involved with Brandy’s Cassie Brown.
Younger’s sassy BFF is scrubbing up for NBC’s Chicago Med. Molly Bernard plays Elsa Curry, a med student who butts heads with her fellow doctors since her motives differ from most of the staff at Med – since she’s going into Bio-Med, patient care isn’t of interest to her.
Talk about the pressure of playing Jack Pearson’s brother! That’s what Michael Angarano is stepping into on NBC’s This Is Us, as The Knick alum joined season 3. The third season will dive into Jack and Nicky’s time in Vietnam.
While she’s appeared in dozens of films and guest-starred on multiple TV shows like Friends and Murphy Brown, Julia Roberts has never had a main role on television until now. The Academy Award winner leads Amazon’s new series, Homecoming, in which she plays a caseworker at a secret government facility in the psychological thriller.
Following the end of Nashville, Chris Carmack is scrubbing up! The actor has joined season 15 of Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Link, a new “Ortho God” in the hospital. “We’re bringing the sexy this season,” Camilla Luddington tells Us about Carmack’s mysterious role. “He’s super charming and everyone’s gonna fall madly in love with him.”
In The CW’s new high school drama All American, Taye Diggs takes on the role of Beverly Hills High School coach Baker. Diggs, who has done his fair share of TV over the years, was drawn to the role because of the politics and subject matters it dives into. Plus, he’s always wanted to play a football coach!
After getting his start on Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally and the Teen Beach Movies, Ross Lynch steps into an entirely new role in Netflix’s dark new drama, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina. Taking on Sabrina’s (Keirnan Shipka) love interest Harvey Kinkle, Lynch can’t wait for the audience to see his relationship with Sabrina: “They’re so in love, it’s electric."
