A is for Apartment Connection

Move over, This Is Us. NBC drama The Village will tug at viewers’ heartstrings as it explores a group of people who are connected as they live in the same Brooklyn apartment complex. Frankie Faison and Lorraine Toussaint star as Ron and Patricia, the heart of the building. (March 12, 10 p.m.)

B is for Black Dahlia

Inspired by the true events of the Black Dahlia murder, TNT’s six-episode drama I Am the Night follows teen Fauna Hodel (India Eisley), trying to make her way out of Reno, Nevada. Chris Pine plays the reporter who helps her find the answers she’s searching for — and is terrified of. (January 28, 9 p.m.)

C is for Comics

Cue up your angsty ’80s music! Syfy’s Deadly Class, a dark coming-of-age series set in the more-is-more decade, is all about an elite private academy. The catch? The students there are training to be assassins. Produced by Avengers: Infinity War directors Anthony and Joe Russo, the graphic-novel adaptation features To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before breakout star Lana Condor. (January 16, 10 p.m.)

D is for Double the Drama

It’s the mother lode! The ninth season of MTV hit Teen Mom 2 returns with Kailyn Lowry, Leah Messer, Chelsea Houska, Jenelle Evans and Briana DeJesus. Expect to see Kail and her mom butting heads, Chelsea fighting with her ex and Leah finding a new love. (January 14, 9 p.m.)

E is for Engulfed in flames

After Matt (Jesse Spencer) just escaped an apartment filled with flames on Chicago Fire, he moved into Severide’s (Taylor Kinney) apartment and both are now single! However, the flame may be out with Stella (Miranda Rae Mayo), but don’t completely. (January 9, 9 p.m.)

F is for Final Season

What in the ham sandwich! Ellie Kemper & Co. return for the second part of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt’s fourth and last season. The final few hours include a new romance for Kimmy and an alternate-universe episode. While Ellie, 38, is “clinging to hope” for a movie or other series continuation, she promises that the Netflix show “manages to wrap up in the most satisfying way” and calls the unexpected ending “inspiring.” As for what she’ll miss most about Kimmy? “I drew a ton of strength from her.” We’ll just be over here crying into our peeno noir. (January 25)

G is for Goodbye, Maggie

From zombie fighter to undercover agent: In ABC’s dramedy Whiskey Cavalier, the Walking Dead alum Lauren Cohan takes on the role of CIA operative Frankie, who’s assigned to work with Scott Foley’s FBI superagent Will Chase. (February 27, 10 p.m.)

H is for Hunting

Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter stars in NBC’s spy thriller The Enemy Within as a former CIA wiz who’s now a notorious traitor. While serving life in prison, she’s enlisted to help with a high-stakes case alongside FBI Agent Will Keaton (Morris Chestnut). (February 25, 10 P.M.)

I is for Innocent

Rachelle Lefevre stars in Fox’s legal drama Proven Innocent as a lawyer hungry for justice after spending years in prison for a crime she didn’t commit. She’s strong on the stand, but “her personal life falls to pieces because she missed her formative years,” Rachelle tells Us. (February 15, 9 p.m.)

J is for Julie Chen’s Return

Season 2 of CBS’ Big Brother: Celebrity Edition is here! Julie Chen, who recently quit her day job as a Talk cohost following her husband Les Moonves’ scandal at the network, will return to host the dramatic series. (The star-studded cast has yet to be announced.) (January 21, 8 p.m.)

K is for Kendrick Lamar

Hip-hop leads the way at the 61st annual Grammy Awards, on CBS. Kendrick Lamar and Drake earned the most nominations, followed by Boi-1da and Brandi Carlile. (February 10, 8 p.m.)

L is for Life Imitating Art

Or make that art imitating life! Marcia Clark executive produces ABC’s The Fix, which follows the journey of L.A. attorney Maya (Robin Tunney), whose career is ruined after she prosecutes an A-list star for a double murder. Eight years later, she gets a second chance. (March 18, 10 p.m.)

M is for Maroon 5

The “Sunday Morning” singers had better be ready by Sunday afternoon when Adam Levine and the band play the Super Bowl LIII halftime show. While sources tell Us the guys had “a lot of trouble finding guests” to join them following the Colin Kaepernick controversy with the NFL, the show, airing on CBS, must go on! (February 3)

N is for New Mexico

"It’s really been like a dream,” Jeanine Mason tells Us about the CW’s Roswell, New Mexico, a timely update of the 1999 series. (Her character, Liz, is the daughter of undocumented immigrants.) Liz reunites with her teen love, Max (Nathan Parsons), and discovers he’s an alien. Fans of the original should tune in: Jeanine promises lots of Easter eggs! (January 15, 9 p.m.)

O is for Overnight Sensation

After 13-year-old Chase (Chase Walker) rises to fame, his older siblings, Cary (Drew Tarver) and Brooke (Heléne Yorke), find themselves trying to figure out where they fit in his world. Former Saturday Night Live writers Chris Kelly and Sarah Schneider co-created the Comedy Central series The Other Two. (January 24, 10:30 p.m.)

P is for Picking Up the Pieces

When The Walking Dead returns, the group will be struggling with what’s happened over the past six years — and fighting off a new enemy, the Whisperers. “It’s a very different experience we’re engaged in,” says Danai Gurira, who portrays Michonne on the AMC drama. “They bring in an issue we’ve never dealt with before.” (February 10, 9 p.m.)

Q is for Quarantined

Based on the Justin Cronin novels of the same name, Fox’s The Passage imbues virals — a.k.a. vampires — with human emotion. When federal agent Brad Wolgast (Mark-Paul Gosselaar) is ordered to bring in a young girl, Amy Bellafonte (Saniyya Sidney), for testing, he bonds with her — then puts both of their lives on the line. “It’s pretty incredible to see someone her age with such amazing talent and maturity,” Mark-Paul says about working with the 12-year-old. “She’s a special kid. It comes naturally to her; when you see it on screen, it’s magic.” (January 14, 9 p.m.)

R is for Reunited

Season 2 of Netflix’s Friends From College picks up about a year after the season 1 finale. The Harvard alums have barely spoken since they found out about the affair between Ethan (Keegan-Michael Key) and Sam (Annie Parisse) — now a wedding will reunite them! (January 11)

S is for Seasons of Love

It was only a matter of time before Broadway show turned feature film Rent got the live-performance treatment. Vanessa Hudgens, Jordan Fisher and Tinashe will star in Fox’s Rent: Live, documenting the lives of young artists struggling in NYC during the AIDS crisis. (January 27, 8 p.m.)

T is for True Crime

Critics and fans loved season 1 of HBO’s True Detective but fell out of love in season 2. Season 3 goes back to basics — and stars Oscar winner Mahershala Ali as an investigator struggling to move on with his life after a missing-child case. (January 13, 9 p.m.)

U is for Uninvited Guests

Clem (Nina Dobrev) had her Fam all planned out with her fiancé, Jay (Tone Bell). Then her half-sister Shannon (Odessa Adlon) — Clem’s polar opposite — showed up on her doorstep. Maybe the arrival of the unexpected guest will be for the best? (January 10, 9:30 p.m.)

V is for Vote

Judges Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan, as well as host Ryan Seacrest, return for the 17th overall season of American Idol (and the second on ABC). In exciting news, the show will roll out a new voting system that allows viewers to cast their ballots live! (March 3, 8 p.m.)

W is for Who Will Host?

Shortly after comedian Kevin Hart was named as host of ABC’s 91st annual Academy Awards, controversial old tweets resurfaced and he chose to step down, then said he’d possibly reconsider. No, there will reportedly be no host. (February 24, 8 p.m.)

X is for XXX

Netflix’s Sex Education follows teenager Otis (Asa Butterfield), who’s being raised by his sex therapist mother, Jean (Gillian Anderson). Over eight episodes, the Netflix dramedy dissects every awkward and frank conversation between mother and son. (January 11)

Y is for Your Favorites

What’s better than a season of Survivor? A season of Survivor featuring fan favorites! Season 29 and 31 vet Kelley Wentworth, and season 30 and 31 player Joe Anglim are among the contestants who will compete in CBS’ Survivor: Edge of Extinction. (February 20, 8 p.m.)

Z is for Zimmer

Is Constance Zimmer the Barbara Morgan we’ve been looking for? The UnREAL alum joins ABC’s A Million Little Things when the show returns, ready to reveal the secrets about Jon’s past that will change everything his friends and family thought they knew. (January 17, 9 p.m.)
