Leave your wallets at home! Tuesday, March 12, marks Free Pancake Day at IHOP, meaning customers can visit their local International House of Pancakes and chow down on a fluffy stack, free of charge.

More specifically, for one day only, visitors to outposts of the California-based chain can get their hands on a free short stack of IHOP’s original buttermilk pancakes from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., local time. Certain locations will even remain open until 10 p.m.

In announcing the special occasion on Twitter, the chain’s social media account cut right to the chase with a bold declaration, writing, “The only thing better than pancakes is FREE PANCAKES. That’s why we made a day of it.”

The beloved holiday, which has been an annual tradition at IHOP for 14 years, raises money for three children’s charities: Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and Shriners Hospitals for Children. While the pancakes are free of charge, IHOP will be collecting donations throughout the day in an effort to reach its ambitious $4 million fundraising goal.

“Each stack served on IHOP Free Pancake Day helps us flip it forward for kids in need,” the chain states on its website. “Doing good never tasted so good.” In fact, in an effort to emphasize the charitable aspect of the holiday, IHOP has officially changed the name of the annual celebration to “IHOP Free Pancake Day: Flip it Forward for Kids.”

Furthermore, the chain formerly known as IHOb is now serving a dish called Oreo Oh My Goodness pancakes. Though the menu item isn’t included in the Free Pancake Day promotion, $1 from each stack sold will go to the aforementioned charities in honor of six-year-old Brody Simoncini – this year’s Kid Chef Champion.

Simoncini, who was born with a rare abdominal wall defect, underwent multiple, lifesaving surgeries over the course of five years, including open heart surgery and an induced coma. His winning recipe consists of two hot, fluffy buttermilk pancakes made with Oreo cookie pieces, cupcake icing, and a whipped topping.
