Meghan Markle’s maternal instincts are already kicking in! On Thursday, October 18, the pregnant Duchess of Sussex, who is expecting her first child with Prince Harry in spring 2019, was spotted wearing a necklace made from pasta after it was given to her by a young fan.
The new piece of “jewelry” likely isn’t as shiny as some of the other baubles the royal now has at her disposal, but given the story behind it, it’s no surprise Meghan, a pasta lover, opted to sport it for a bit. Per an Australian news site, the necklace was made by a young royal watcher named Gavin, who gifted it to the expectant mom while waiting along Government House Drive in Melbourne’s Royal Botanic Gardens.
Gavin, who was dressed as a pilot, likely caught Meghan’s eye because he was holding a handwritten sign that read, “I made you a necklace.” According to his mom, Gavin worked on his creation during a day home sick from school. “I made it with pasta and dipped them in gold paint and threaded the string through,” he told the outlet.
Video of Meghan receiving the necklace shows her putting it on right away without any hesitation and wearing it as she continued to greet fans. It probably didn’t hurt that Gavin’s creation complimented her navy Dion Lee dress perfectly!
Though Meghan and Harry have several months to go before they meet their little one, it appears the Suits alum, who is currently on a 16-day tour visiting Australia, Fiji, Tonga and New Zealand with her husband, isn’t the only one who is more than ready to be a parent. On Wednesday, October 17, Harry happily broke royal protocol when embracing a 5-year-old boy named Luke Vincent in Dubbo, New South Wales.
