The South Korean action series was released in September 2021, becoming one of Netflix’s most popular shows in more than 142 million member households. Squid Game was renewed for a second season in June 2022 after successful turns at the Golden Globes and Screen Actors Guild Awards. Season 1 earned a total of 14 nominations for the 2022 Emmys, including Best Drama.
