Bearded and buff Bradley, alert! Bradley Cooper brought his bulkier body and scruffy facial hair to the Metropolitan Museum of Art's Costume Institute Gala in New York City on May 5.
The Oscar-nominated actor, one of the evening's co-chairs, looked dapper in a black silk three-piece tuxedo, which included a theme-appropriate tail. Cooper's look was completed with a white silk bow-tie and matching pocket square.
His latest transformation, as it turns out, is for a movie role. Cooper has packed on the pounds (and muscle!) and grown out his facial hair for his upcoming role in American Sniper, a true story based on the life and career of a late Navy SEAL. According to one of his costars, Cooper has gained close to 40 pounds for his role.

While on the red carpet, the handsome star shared a sweet moment with fellow co-chair Sarah Jessica Parker, who looked resplendent in an Oscar de la Renta gown. The two stars embraced and hugged on the steps of the Metropolitan Museum of Art.
Cooper took no photographs with his girlfriend, Suki Waterhouse, who trailed the actor in a layered Burberry gown.
