Has she said yes to the dress?! With her spring 2017 wedding on the horizon, Pippa Middleton welcomed Giles Deacon (carrying garment bags!) into her London home on Friday, November 11. Has she found her wedding dress designer?
Deacon, who counts Kerry Washington and Cate Blanchett as fans, and the royal in-law, 33, were also joined by Middleton’s mom, Carole, suggesting that the meeting was indeed a special — and potentially bridal-minded — one. After all, with her wedding about six months away, this would be prime time for the Celebrate author to be choosing her wedding threads.
If Middleton, who accepted a proposal from hedge fund manager James Matthews in August, does indeed decide to go ahead with Deacon, she has plenty of red carpet styles to pull inspiration from — including five of our favorites, below.
Kerry Washington
The Scandal actress’ Deacon, worn to the Django Unchained premiere in 2012, could appeal to Middleton’s more daring sartorial sensibilities. While the white boat-neckline bodice is traditional, the voluminous printed skirt screams modern bride.
Kate Hudson
The Deepwater Horizon actress wore this muted floral fantasia with a fishtail hem in 2015. We especially love the row of calla lily–shape accents down the front!
Abbey Clancy
Actual bridal! The lingerie model married footballer Peter Crouch in 2011 wearing this custom Giles Deacon mermaid gown featuring the deconstructed ruffles the designer is well-known for. A dress like this would showcase Middleton’s athletic shape.
Cate Blanchett and Dianna Agron
No, neither of these Deacon dresses is standard bridal fare, but aspects of both would make for an unforgettable wedding gown! The shape of Blanchett’s oil-spill beauty, worn at Cannes in 2015? So statement-making. And the bodice of Agron’s Golden Globes 2012 silhouette, which features laser-cut swans, is both delicate and edgy — and so easily imaginable in white.
