With her long blonde hair, dazzling white smile and statuesque frame, Erin Andrews may seem like she’s more fitted for her gig as co-host on Dancing With the Stars than as a sideline reporter for Fox Sports.
“My look, what I’m wearing, is always talked about,” Andrews, 36, tells Us Weekly. “I think it’s so sad that in 2014 we’re apologizing for wanting to look good, wear a great lipgloss and then be questioned if I know sports.”
It’s this frustration that led Andrews to partner with CoverGirl for their new #Gameface contest, which encourages women to upload their spirited game faces to social media with the hashtag and tagging @CoverGirl. Andrews will then pick a winner each week, who will be entered to win a pair of tickets to the Super Bowl.
“Female fans just aren’t paid attention to, but there are so many female football and sports fans that are into looking pretty,” Andrews says. “It’s about time a beauty brand got it.”
Her own game face makeup consists of mostly neutrals (“I touch myself up,” she admits), and her wardrobe choice is as equally minimalist. “I go for kind of a Kate Middleton slash Gisele vibe,” she tells Us. “Everything is a skinny jean, a flat and a T-shirt.”
That is, unless, she’s working in sub-zero conditions like last year’s play-off game in Green Bay: “I was covered in battery-operated clothing.”
When she’s not running around on game days for hours on end — in flats, naturally (“You cannot wear heels on grass, and I can’t rock a wedge like that”) — Andrews is getting glam for Dancing With the Stars.
She trades in her skinny jeans (Paige and Current/Elliott are faves) for evening gowns each week. “I’ve tried on two so far and they’ve been Victoria Beckham,” she tells Us. “They’re just beautiful and the colors are really pretty, too.”
For her hairstyles, she looks to another leggy blonde as hair-spiration. “My go-to is Gisele. I tell my hairstylists to just make it like Gisele,” she says of the supermodel’s signature voluminous messy waves.
While she’s happy to talk about her hair, makeup and style (Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahniks are her must-have heels for the show), just don’t ask Andrews about her pick to win the new season of DWTS. “I have no clue. I’m excited to see everybody,” she says. “I don’t know any of their story lines yet, and I think that’s the best part of the show.”
