Oh, how this brings Us back! Moschino sent a lineup of paper doll–inspired clothing down the runway on Thursday, September 22, during Milan Fashion Week 2016, and it employed sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid to show off the nostalgia-inducing styles.
Wearing a retro-inspired blonde bob hairstyle, Gigi, 21, opened the show in a long white gown illustrated with a doll body wearing black lingerie — a mimic of the foundation for all paper doll sets. She also worked a black gown with bubblegum accents. Both looks were all-white on the back, as paper would be. Plus, they featured the instantly recognizable little white tags used to hold the clothing in place.
Bella, 19, wore the brunette version of her sister’s wig and two outfits: a tangerine, asymmetrical minidress with one puffed sleeve, and a black minidress with illustrated gold chain accents. Even the accessories — especially the earrings — were crafted to look like they were made for a paper doll.
Once she walked the runway, Gigi, who’s currently dating Zayn Malik, toasted the collection via Instagram. “@moschino paper doll 👭👭,” she wrote. “Love always @itsjeremyscott @carlynecerfdedudzeele thank you for having me open your epic show tonight! 👠 #mfw.”
Her sister added her own note of thanks: “@Moschino! Thank you @itsjeremyscott @carlynecerfdedudzeele @samuel_ellis @pg_dmcasting 💋💋💋.”
Since fashion month kicked off in NYC on September 8, Bella and Gigi have walked a number of shows together, including Versace, Bottega Veneta and Fendi. Bella even opened the Fendi show, much to her sister’s delight. “Had to hold back tears of pride & joy watching my beautiful lil sis open the @fendi show today!!!!!!!!” Gigi wrote via Instagram.
