A winning week! Kaia Gerber got a new job and a huge award on Thursday, September 8. The 15-year-old up-and-comer was named the Breakthrough Model of the Year at The Daily Front Row Fashion Media Awards in New York City, a few hours after she was announced as the face of Marc Jacobs Beauty.
Gerber hit the ceremony with her entire family in tow: mom, former supermodel Cindy Crawford, dad Rande Gerber and brother Presley Gerber, 17, who’s racking up his own credits as a budding model. The lady of the hour appropriately donned a sheer black Marc Jacobs midi gown with an embellished neckline and hem along with Stuart Weitzman sandals. For modesty, she layered a Wolford Fatal Dress underneath.
Celebrity makeup artist Hung Vanngo used only Marc Jacobs Beauty products to achieve a look that lasted throughout the night. Her smoky eye was courtesy of the Style Eye Con No 3 Plush Eyeshadow palette ($39, marcjacobsbeauty.com) while Le Marc Lip Creme Lipstick in No Angel 242 ($30, marcjacobsbeauty.com) gave her lips a nude finish. Her glam did double duty for Maybelline’s New York Fashion Week Kick-Off Party. At that fete, she traded her gown for a much shorter tan blazer dress, paired with a huge choker and dark brown velvet ankle boots.
It’s understandable that the Pop Magazine September 2016 cover girl is thrilled about her wins. In an interview with Allure, she gushed about her role with Marc Jacobs (who presented her with the honor at the Fashion Media Awards).
“I’m so excited and honored that my first beauty campaign is with Marc Jacobs, an icon in the fashion industry,” Gerber said. “I’m obsessed with his beauty products, and like everything else he does, Marc Jacobs Beauty makes you feel feminine and playful.”
