Saving on slacks! Duchess Kate Middleton visited the Eden Project in St. Austell, Cornwall, on Friday, September 2, wearing a pair of extremely affordable pants — that happen to be on sale.
Middleton, 34, is known for mixing high and low price points, and her trip to the eco-tourism attraction was no exception. She sported the Gap Bi-Stretch Skinny Ankle Pants in Ikat Blue (on sale for $25, gap.com) with a white bateau knit top and her go-to navy blazer from Smythe, which retails for $615. A nude clutch and matching wedges completed her preppy ensemble.
Prince William toured the facilities along with the mother of George, 3, and Charlotte, 16 months. The Duke of Cambridge, 34, looked dapper in a navy blazer of his own, paired with khaki pants and lace-up suede dress shoes.
The royal couple took in the glass-covered greenhouses, gardens and the Rainforest Biome — the largest indoor rain forest in the world — after their plans to visit the Scilly Isles were washed out. “The couple have had a long-standing invitation to visit the Eden Project,” an aide told Us Weekly. “It was always a good wet weather option.”
Their change of plans delighted Gordon Seabright, managing director of the Eden Trust, which oversees the attraction: “It was a joyous surprise. We feel very sorry for our good friends on the Scillies but for us, what an absolute treat, an absolute privilege.”
