From Bridesmaid to fashion star!
Best Supporting Actress Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy recovered from a brief illness Sunday to work the red carpet in a custom blush colored Marina Rinaldi gown with a jeweled neckline detail.
Speaking to E!'s Ryan Seacrest Sunday, McCarthy — who attended the show with her Bridesmaids costar hubby Ben Falcone — said her Oscar outfit had an added special touch courtesy of A-list shoe designer Brian Atwood.
"My dear, dear friend Brian Atwood made my lovely handbag and fantastic shoes for me and wrote a message to me on the bottom," McCarthy told Seacrest of the inscription, which read 'to my best friend Melissa McCarthy,' then Oscars and the date. "We've been dear friends since high school. I read the [note] and started crying."
Going into Sunday's Oscars with "no expectations," McCarthy looks forward to taking a break from her film promotion duties to start work on her own plus-sized clothing line. "I went to college for fashion and textiles. I'm really excited to start that this year. It's going to be fun," McCarthy explained of her line.
When it came to her Sunday night style, Fashion Police's Kelly Osbourne had high praise for McCarthy.
"I am so excited to see how good she looks tonight," Osbourne gushed of McCarthy. "She changed it up completely and the color on her is great, the beadwork is great. It makes me so happy to see her looking so beautiful."
