Could not be more fitting!
Hours after Taylor Swift premiered the music video for her latest single “Style,” Vogue announced that the pop sensation and her best friend, model Karlie Kloss, would be the fashion bible’s oh-so-stylish March 2015 cover stars.
Vogue posted a sneak peek at the ladies’ shoot via Instagram on Friday, Feb. 13. (No worries on the date—Swift believes “13” is her lucky number.)
The look-alike beauties, each with short hair, blue eyes, and rosebud pouts, posed head-to-head for the image—the ‘zine’s cover shot—with both ladies clad in printed, plunging Louis Vuitton ensembles.
The concept behind the complete shoot (which can be previewed at Vogue.com)? A BFF road trip! As the Instagram caption explained, “Mega BFFs @taylorswift and @karliekloss went on a Malibu road trip—and took us along for the ride.”
The result: Adorable photos of pair, oad-tripping in a car, posing inside a trailer, and dancing in the mountains, all while wearing femme looks by Marc Jacobs, Valentino, Donna Karan New York, and Bottega Veneta.
Inside the issue, Swift explained that their friendship seemed predestined from the start. “People had been telling us for years we needed to meet,” she said. “I remember makeup artists and hair people going, ‘Doesn’t she remind you of Karlie? God, she and Karlie would be best friends. They’re the same. Karlie’s such a good girl. She brings us cookies every time we do a shoot.'”
So when the pair finally did meet—Lily Aldridge introduced them backstage at the 2013 Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show—the girls couldn’t resist. “We were just like, ‘You. My friend. Now,'” the “Blank Space” singer said.
And if you thought that was all the cuteness you could bear, Swift and Kloss went and did this, too: They made a best friends video to determine who’s the “best, best friend,” and it includes notes on which emoji each lady represents and a surprise visit from Swift’s cat, Olivia Benson.
