This year has already proven to be a momentous year for the Ariana Grande who, after a whirlwind courtship, got engaged to comedian Pete Davidson early this month. If that weren’t enough, she is also set to debut her latest album, Sweetener, later this summer and recently teased the upcoming launch of a new cloud-shaped fragrance on her Insta Story. But throughout all of the fun and exciting changes, Ariana’s flirty style — chiefly, her now-signature ponytail — has remained intact.
Having first adopted the updo during her days on Nikelodeon’s Sam & Cat when constant color changes from brunette to red left her hair super damaged, the pony quickly became her go-to look. From platinum blonde to bangs, twisted bun to half-up, half-down, Ariana has proven there are countless ways to wear the style, and her own personal transformation is reflected in the ever-changing ‘dos.
“The pony has also gone through an evolution, and I’m proud of that,” she told Fader earlier this year. “Old pony? I don’t know if she’s that girl. But new pony? I like her. I mean, it’s like a Victoria Secret angel without angel wings. It’s still her without them, but when she’s with them it’s like, ‘Ohh, I get it, she’s an angel.’”
