Focus on Undereyes

Dry skin cells make crow’s-feet more prominent, so exfoliate with a gentle formula such as Tatcha Polished Classic Rice Enzyme Powder for Normal + Combination Skin ($65, tatcha.com). “When you have smooth skin,” explains Vanngo, “you don’t have to use as much concealer later.” Puffy? Build a Strong Foundation

Brush? Blender? Fingers? No foundation applicator is as high-performing as a car-polishing sponge, says Vanngo. Contour With Shimmer

Vanngo believes powder products (such as Tom Ford Soleil Contouring Compact, $108, tomford.com) deliver the most natural-looking results when swept on with a fan brush. The tool, he says, “gives you control over how much product you’re using.” A foolproof method: Blend bronzer and blush along cheekbones. Apply highlighter at the tail end of brows.

Mix Matte With Luster

When it comes to eyes, creating dimension is key. Spread a matte cream shadow (Charlotte Tilbury Eyes to Mesmerise in Bette, $32, charlottetilbury.com) to the crease, then dab a lighter shimmer (Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Cocoa, $29, lauramercier.com) at the center of lids and outer corners. Don’t be tempted to reapply later; overpowdering is the fastest route to cake town.
