Going to great heights! To achieve the major volume that updated the Powerless star’s slick style, stylist Chad Wood applied John Frieda Luxurious Volume Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion before blow drying hair straight back away from the face, helping to create extra volume at the crown. He then flat-ironed tiny sections of hair, spraying each with John Frieda Luxurious Volume Forever Full Hairspray before tonging. Once body was set, Wood applied a healthy dollop of John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-up Crème throughout to give hair “a polished wet look.”
Eye do! To create the Black-ish star’s quiet smolder, makeup artist Emily Cheng worked with the dark green shade in Chanel’s Multi Effect Quadra Eyeshadow palette in Tisse d’Automne layered with the brand’s Ombré Premiere shadow in Poudré d’Or to bring out the gold in Shahidi’s flowing Zimmerman gown. Intense black cream eyeliner smudged into lashes and a couple of generous coats of waterproof black mascara finished the look.
Sleek and chic: The Stranger Things star’s hair was inspired by her sparkling gold Rodarte dress, her hairstylist Jenny Cho tells Us. “I added a touch of hair accessories in the back of the hairstyle to add a little playfulness,” she adds. After running Suave Professionals 10-in-1 Leave-in Conditioning Cream, Cho made a deep side part, then pulled hair back into a low ponytail. She then misted with hairspray and diffused dry, wrapping the hair in a hanker-chief to maintain “a firm smoothness.” Once hair was dry, Cho wrapped it into a “small, clean bun” then slid a few gold leaf flower hairpins by Lelet through it. Suave Anti-Humidity Hairspray sealed the look.
Pout, perfect: Makeup pro Patrick Ta layered two shades of lip color to blend the deep burgundy shade that added edge to Munn’s embroidered minidress by designer Nicolas Jibran. First, he applied Chanel’s Rouge Allure Intense in Ultraberry and then dabbed Le Crayon Levres Precision Lip Definer in Seduction from edges in.
Pony up! To play up the Fifth Harmony member’s backless dress, stylist Justine Marjan fashioned a long, wavy ponytail that “cascaded down her back.” She prepped hair with TRESemmé’s Keratin Smooth Heat Protect Spray and Keratin Smooth Shine Serum and then blow-dried with the ghd Air Hairdryer. She then used the the ghd Platinum Styler in horizontal sections from roots to ends to make waves. Before gathering hair in a low ponytail, Marjan smoothed locks by running a grooming brush spritzed with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Frizz-Free Hold Hair Spray through from roots to ends.
Locks to love! “Hailee and I were instantly inspired by her Versace Couture dress to create waist-length hair that sported both texture and shine,” says Gregory Russell, The Edge of Seventeen star’s stylist. First, Russell applied a “golf-ball sized” dollop of Kenra Whip Grip Mousse to hair and then blew hair out, starting with “the Mohawk section” on a round brush and then roughdrying the rest of hair with fingers for texture. He then fortified locks with Kenra’s Platinum Heat Blocking Spray and used a flat iron to bevel waves. To add shine, Russell ran a pearl sized amount of Kenra Platinum Snail CC Crème through ends.
Emerald city! The Star actress rocked one of summer’s hottest makeup trends and of course, she did it her way! Makeup artist Jo Baker played up Jackson’s stunning eyes with vivid green liner along lower lashlines only, but instead of using eyeliner, she smudged eyeshadow under eyes instead. Before smudging a hue from Chanel’s Les 4 Ombres Multi-Effect Quadra Eyeshadow in Road Movie, Baker spritzed her brush with Evian to sharpen pigment, “illuminating the metallic emerald tone in the shadow,” she told Teen Vogue.
There were many things we loved about the Anaconda singer’s look: that Barbie-pink latex getup, the million dollars of diamonds she was dripping in… but our fave aspect? The one half bottle blonde, one half rose gold calf-length locks – proving yet again, that Minaj is magnificent in the style department.
