How to Get Michelle Williams' Marilyn Monroe Hairstyle
It's no secret that Marilyn Monroe has had a lasting influence on women in Hollywood, especially when it comes to her looks. And stars of every age have stepped out on the red carpet while paying homage to the late icon's retro curls and ruby red lips.
Michelle Williams transforms into Monroe in My Week with Marilyn, where she nails every detail from her shimmy down to her platinum blonde 'do.
Celeb hairstylist Oribe made sure to keep Williams' Monroe-inspired coif soft and timeless when styling her hair for her October VOGUE cover. "The key thing to remember is that you can't reinvent Marilyn -- but you can recreate an exaggerated, almost cartoon-like version of her," he tells Us Weekly.
Below, get the full how-to on how to create your own retro, polished curls.
Step 1: Mist hair with Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray ($42, barneys.com) and blow hair out.
Step 2: Separate hair into one-inch sections and spray each piece from roots to ends with a firm-hold hairspray before wrapping around a curling iron. Pin each curl to head.
Step 3: Once your whole head is done, remove pins and apply a volumizing spray at the roots for lift and comb hair into place.
Step 4: Apply Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray ($38, barneys.com) as you're working, separating hair with your hands. If your hair is thick, use Oribe Apres Beach Wave and Shine Spray ($35, spacenk.com) for added texture.
