Keeping it short for Heath.
Michelle Williams made hair headlines when she cut her long blonde hair into a pixie cut -- a cropped look she's kept for a while now, even though not everyone's a huge fan, including her daughter Matilda, 6.

"What Matilda would love is for her mom to grow out the cropped hair, though that's unlikely to happen any time soon," Williams, 31, tells British ELLE, as excerpted by British paper The Telegraph.
"I've really grown into it," explains the My Week With Marilyn actress. "I feel like myself with short hair. And it's been a really long time since I had long hair, five years."

"Of course, the only people who like it are gay men and my girlfriends," the Oscar-nominated star jokes. "Straight men across the board are not into this hair!"
Except for one, very special straight man, that is: Heath Ledger, Matilda's dad and Williams' ex, who died in early 2008 at age 28 of an accidental drug overdose.

Explains Williams, who has been opening up of late about the devastating loss about the Brokeback Mountain icon: "I cut it for the one straight man who has ever liked short hair and I wear it in memorial of somebody who really loved it."

Tell Us What You Think
19She love Heath with all her heart, she had to leave him because of his drugs, not because she did not love him, and he still loved her very much. She probably carries some pain thinking maybe if she stayed she could have helped him, but it does not happen that way, I went through the same thing, and lost my loved one as well. Good bless her and Matilda.
And, she isn't choosing what these gossip sites decide to headline. I think it just came up in the conversation and if you actually read the interviews with her, you'd see they are primarily about her movie roles.
I read interviews she has done. I definitely do not get the vibe that is desperate for attention so she uses Heath. If that were the case I'm sure she could have sat down for a huge interview after his death, but she didn't. She has his child! She loved him deeply and by all accounts she was the love of his life. She has every right to still mourn him and miss him. I guess what you deem to be her "lack of personality" is what I find charming about her. What press conferences have you seen her talk of Heath? When she has talked about him on camera, it is the interviewer who has brought it up, NOT her and you can see that she gets quite emotional about him. With death, especially one in which it is a young person who dies in such a way, I don't judge anyone who feels the need to talk about it anytime. Michelle is a talented actress in her OWN right and I would think that shows with a second nomination at the Academy Awards this year that had nothing to do with Heath Ledger.
That's sweet.
She loved Heath. Loving someone who destroys themselves intentionally or accidentally via alcohol or drugs is a hard thing to carry the rest of one's life. There is no goodbye, just unfinished business and no closure. I believe it is her right to commend and keep his memory alive for her daughter and honor him ANY way she sees fit. Perhaps she speaks of him before movies etc because that is when people talk to her, that is when she is interviewed. She likely carries Heath with her every day, regardless of who she speaks to. She likely only utters alound about 1/8 of what she actually feels and thinks of him . Leave her alone.
Gorgeous!
ok,WHY are you doing that?!?!?!?!? you're kinda stupid for doing something like that,i'm sorry...
Good for her!!
What magazines are you reading laura?she has used heath as a publicity stunt everytime she has gone to a press conference or has had an interview with high end and important magazines. I think she is a beautiful woman, but her behavior makes her look like a stage five clinger and shows her lack of personality.i dont care if you call it cruel or mean or evil,i would rather read about her role as marilyn monroe, than know about how hung up on heath she still is after five years. I totally understand heath's family and their stand about michelle
shut Up Yasaman! she doesn't milk his name. I hardley ever hear her mention him, because she is so private......
One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest! Not a good day for Hollywood.
I love how she still loves Heath.
Yasaman, she doesn't milk him. She barely talks about him and I think she was simply explaining the significance of her short haircut. She didn't even outright say that she wears it in memorial of someone who really loved it...it's just implied that it was Heath. I think it's clear that Michelle deeply loved Heath and whatever problems they had in their relationship are ones that she had hoped to overcome. I'd never say "get over it" to a person who has lost someone so close to them. That's very cruel.
She has such a beautiful face that she can pull off the short hair. The first part of the comment I thought was a reference to Heath but I think it might just be symbolically for any straight guy who likes hair that short. The second part (memorial) is a reference to Heath and I think it is very sweet and touching.
She looks great! I'm normally not a fan of pixie cuts but she looks wonderful!
I just wanna slap her and tell her she has to stop milking heath ledgers name. I understand she has a daughter with him and he will always be matilda's father, but that doesnt give her the right to bring him up in every interview.they werent even together when he died. Move the hell on
If anyone rocks the pixie, its her! and kudos for not being afraid to walk outside the crowd.
i love it. really confident women can rock the short hair...she looks beautiful
she looks lovely!
