If at first you don’t succeed, try try again! Amanda Peet used cabbage as a bra while breastfeeding during her first two pregnancies, so decided to give it another go after the birth of her son Henry in December. She explained the process during the Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday, Jan. 7, even (shamelessly) sharing photo proof.
The bathroom snapshot was taken by Peet’s husband, Game of Thrones showrunner David Benioff. In it, the actress is brushing her teeth while using big cabbage leaves to support her breasts.
“Apparently when you get engorged after the baby’s born and the milk comes in you can put cold cabbage leaves on your boobs and apparently it stops the milk,” Peet explained to DeGeneres. She laughed: “This is my husband being very amused by my porno boobs even though I’m in excruciating pain.”
Peet admitted the old wives’ tale barely works, but she did the same with daughters Frances, now 7, and Molly, now 4. “[At least] it makes for a really great picture,” she quipped.
This week, the mom of three also opened up about Henry’s latest milestones. “The baby’s doing great. He’s really adorable and it feels like we’re a complete family now,” she told Us Weekly at her Togetherness Hollywood premiere on Tuesday. “They’re doing really, really well,” she added of her daughters accepting their little brother. “They just gave him a bath while I was leaving.”
