Papa Will speaks! Shortly after wife Kate Middleton gave birth to son Prince George, an overjoyed and overwhelmed Prince William opened up in his first TV interview -- with CNN's Max Foster -- about fatherhood, the royal couple's first days with baby and much more.
The 31-year-old future King told Foster that their big "reveal," in which they debuted their son outside the Lindo Wing of St. Mary's Hospital July 23, just one day after his birth, felt oddly logical. "I was on such a high anyway, and so was Catherine about George, that really we were happy to show him off to whoever wanted to see him," he gushed. "As any new parent knows, you’re only too happy to show off your new child and, you know, proclaim that he is the best looking or the best everything."
And England's newest royal proved to be on his best behavior, William pointed out: "I'm just glad he wasn’t screaming his head off the whole way through!"
Global royal watchers were impressed when the new royal family departed the hospital, and William installed the car seat himself without a hitch. "Believe me, it wasn't my first time. And I know there's been speculation about that. I had to practice, I really did," he revealed.
The first-time father was also the first to change George's diaper -- or "nappy" in British parlance. "I had every midwife staring at me, 'You do it. You do it,' " he recalled. George, he said, is "growing quite quickly actually. But he's a little fighter. He kind of, he wriggles around quite a lot. And he doesn't want to go to sleep that much, which is a little bit of a problem."
William confided that he's up at all hours to tend to George -- but "not as much as Catherine," he admitted. "She's doing a fantastic job. For me, Catherine, and now little George are my priorities."
"I think the last few weeks for me have been just a very different emotional experience," Princess Diana's eldest reflects. "Something I never thought I would feel myself . . .a lot of things affect me differently now."
