“Joe is really focused on music right now,” says a source close to the 72-year-old Oscar winner, who tapped the Voice coach for some help in the studio. “He’s really excited and inspired.”

A Levine source explains that the unlikely duo, who met at a charity golf event, have been buddies for years. “They kicked around some songs and recorded some stuff together,” reveals the insider.

But they have yet to decide if they’ll release the jams, continues the source. “It was just a thing they did while having fun!”

Outside the studio, the Maroon 5 frontman, 36, and Pesci remain on par. Adds the Levine source, “They are both avid golfers and have becoming golfing buddies. They golf, hang out, and play music.”

Levine can also count on Pesci to cheer him on at work. “Joe is a big Voice fan and he’s been on set a bunch, always with Adam’s crew,” says another source. Plus, according to the first insider, “Joe’s been in the audience at Adam’s concerts!”
