New photos of Amber Heard show the actress with bruises that she alleges were caused by her estranged husband, Johnny Depp. The photos were released just days after Heard was granted a restraining order against the Alice Through the Looking Glass star, who she married in February 2015 after more than two years of dating.
In some of the pics, obtained by Us Weekly, Heard sports facial injuries around her right eye and upper cheek. In two other images, she has a cut on her chin and upper lip and her mouth is bleeding.
As previously reported, Heard, 30, filed for divorce from Depp, 52, on May 23, citing irreconcilable differences. On May 27, she filed court documents accusing her husband of physical abuse. She claimed that Depp assaulted her during her birthday party on April 21, and threw an iPhone at her face on May 21.
Though a Depp pal says in the new issue of Us Weekly that “they had a horrible relationship,” another source insists, “Anyone who knows him will tell you he is not capable of this.”
Depp’s family and friends have rallied behind the actor since the news. In response, Heard’s legal team slammed Depp in a statement to Us Weekly on Tuesday. Heard’s attorney Samantha F. Spector and co-counsel Joseph P. Koenig alleged that Heard “suffered through years of physical and psychological abuse at the hands of Johnny” and didn’t come forward sooner “in an attempt to protect her privacy and Johnny’s career.”
Heard and Depp, who has been performing with his rock band overseas, are due back in court on June 17. An insider tells Us: “He’s going to defend himself, then give her what is ordered.”
