Anastacia shared some sad news with her fans on Wednesday. The 44-year-old singer announced she's been diagnosed with breast cancer afor the second time in ten years.
As a result, Anastacia (full name: Anastacia Lyn Newkirk) has been forced to cancel her European tour, which she was scheduled to kick off April 6 in London. "I feel so awful to be letting down all my amazing fans who were looking forward to It's a Man's World Tour," the "Sick and Tired" singer said in a statement on her website Feb. 27. "It just breaks my heart to disappoint them."
She previously battled the disease in 2003 when she was just 34 years old. She successfully completed surgery and underwent radiotherapy. In an interview on Good Morning America at that time, Anastacia admitted that the cancer diagnosis "hit me like a train," and that she couldn't stop crying. After her diagnosis, however, the singer took action and created The Anastacia Fund to help raise awareness for women under the age of 35 to get mammograms.
And the "Heavy on My Heart" singer, who says she'll continue writing music during her new ordeal, is ready to fight breast cancer again.
"Now more than ever, she is 'determined to live by her motto, 'Don't ever let cancer get the 'Best of You!'" her website says. "A born survivor, Anastacia has one goal and that is to make a full recovery with the support of her family, friends and everyone around her."
