Blondie! Over the past month, Ariana Grande has been slowly revealing the album art for her latest single, Focus, and in the process, uncovering how she looks as a platinum blonde.
Though the “Problem” singer, 22, is no stranger to different hair hues — red during her Nickelodeon days as Cat in Victorious and a chestnut-colored brunette in 2013 — she’s now got blonde ambition. In the black and white album shot shared on Oct. 13, Grande sports her typical hairstyle — half up, half down — this time in an almost white-blonde wig.
The Sam & Cat alum stares off to the side in the photo, showing off a fierce cat-eye, and crosses her arms, revealing black nails, filed to a point.
Teasing the new single art on Instagram, she wrote, “#16daysTillFocus. New single ‘Focus’ #Oct30. Shot by @alfredoflores.”
Fake hair is no new thing for Grande. The pop singer has admitted in the past that she kept wearing the same hairstyle because her hair was so damaged from her days on Nickelodeon. “I had to bleach my hair and dye it red every other week for the first 4 years of playing Cat… as one would assume, that completely destroyed my hair,” she wrote, defending her hair on Instagram in January 2014. “My real hair is back to brown and I wear extensions, but I wear it in a pony tail because my actual hair is so broken that it looks absolutely ratchet and absurd when I let it down. Trust me, it’s… difficult for me to have to wait forever for my natural hair to grow back and to have to wear more fake hair than every drag queen on earth combined.”
